Kyonin's Talks on the "Song of the Jewel-Mirror Samadhi" (Hokyo Zanmai)
Really enjoyed the introduction Kyonin - it is very clear and concise and I did not notice you going too fast - the pace was just right.
Looking forward to the next recording.
Thank you for your teaching. Your English is excellent, the pacing was just right for me, and the visual demonstration affected me deeply. Thank you for leading me to a richer understanding of our practice. I look forward to the next talk.
Here is our next talk on the Hokyo Zanmai. Sorry for the delay.
This time we'll take a look at the first four lines:
The teaching of thusness has been intimately communicated by buddhas and ancestors.
Now you have it, so keep it well.
Filling a silver bowl with snow, hiding a heron in the moonlight -
Taken as similar they're not the same;
when you mix them, you know where they are.
We go about our lives dissecting reality in order to understand the universe around us. We take this imaginary knife and cut reality into bits, which is what humans do and it's fine, but it the process we tend to over think and bypass the concept of Thusness.
Please watch the talk and sit with me. And share your thoughts
Thank you Kyonin, lovely talk ... and thank you chainsaw and birds for your contribution. The bowl, the snow, the herring, the moonlight are only separate if our hearts and minds see them as such. =)
Kyonin; Lovely, Thank you for making sense of this poetry in your very own unique and personal way. You bring life and meaning to the written word; and light to the darkness.
