    etiquette in de FSR

    hi,
i have a question about making gassho in the FSR. When i am sitting there and another person joints, he or she will make gassho. My question is: do i return that gassho or i am i just continuing my sitting.

    thanks for your answer,

    Hello aprapti,

I gassho to the others, when I enter and before I leave. Not when someone enters. I have never seen someone doing so.
Btw., thank you for sitting together this morning.

    Gassho,

    Just keep sitting.

However, if before the bell rings to commence sitting, one may offer Gassho. Because there is no official bell in free sitting, just whenever the bell rings in your heart.

I only Gassho when I enter but if I'm correct the host will Gassho to the ones that enter.

Of course, to be polite, a person leaving should Gassho before leaving too.

However, other folks who are in the midst of sitting should just keep sitting. When sitting has commenced, we just sit.

Re the Free Sitting Room, have regarded it as the gassho of entering or leaving the "zendo." Yes?

Yes, it is a Zendo, a hall for practicing.
