It's much bigger than the photos may suggest. I call it our porch tarantula. Yes, it's creepy, but I try to shoo it into hiding rather than harming it. Not always easy.

The following summer, he got his head lopped off by a dragged garden hose, so he was moved to a new rock garden at the "hermitage."

Yesterday my wife and I spent the day with some friends from the university in the Cachoeira do Acaba Vida (End Life Waterfall) near our town.
It’s amazing how so much water and green plants can exist in that little valley while everything above is dry and leafless plants and cactus.
Some photos we took:

A few days ago we went to a place in the mountains where my mom and dad's ashes are deposited. It's about a 3 km hike in with some serious elevation gain. There's a natural rock that is their "stupa." I wanted to bring some hair from their little dog that I inherited, who passed on in April.

I am missing something. How do you post big pictures? If I try to post large file it says it is too large. If I resize and use the "insert image" toggle it comes out small and the text wraps around it. I know I am missing something simple.

Sidebar question for folks posting here. ................
How do the folks that manage to post HUGE images get them to meet the file size requirements that the forum imposes?
Whenever I downsize a pic to meet the filesize max limit, it ends up like a postage stamp, then some folks arrive and post a huge mural.
If anyone has some guidance around small files but BIG pics please share - PM if you don't want to hijack this thread.

Two folks just asked about this so here you go.
How to show large images on Treeleaf.
When you post images you have two options - to upload the image to Treeleaf or link to an image offsite. If you upload it will be small. If you link offsite it will be whatever size it is on the other site.
For example I have images hosted on imgur.com. This is a picture included as an external link. This is my buddy Sonja - kind of cute don't you think?
Note the image is too large to upload but it can be shown.
If you want to upload an image (which will be small but here forever) there are two ways. Note that uploaded images are always shown as thumbnails first. You have to click them to see the larger version - and they have the size restriction. The first way to upload is to select the image icon on the reply box and then select the file on your computer. So you use the "From Computer" Tab and then select your file, then upload. Those are the steps I used for this next image.
treeleaf upload 1.jpg
If you want to use an image on an external site you use the other tab option on the screen "From URL"
treeleaf upload 2.jpg
Note that the "Retrieve remote file and reference locally" box is unchecked. If you do that the image will be big as it linked externally.
If you leave it checked the image will be uploaded to Treeleaf just as if you uploaded it from your computer and the image will be small .
I am guessing the size limit it to keep down the amount of storage that is required on the Treeleaf servers to host images. Pictures take up a lot of space!
Hope this helps.

What a beautiful blue eyed Collie, thank you for using him/her as a demo. I've normally uploaded direct from my PC and have used windows Paint to resize until it meets the size limits. Sounds like if I upload the original to something like Google Drive or Photos, I can use the shared link URL to maintain size. I'll try that next time.
Thank you.

Thank you Seishin. I edited the message after the first post and added her name. She is actually an Australian Shepherd and her name is Sonja. She is the most amazing dog. I could tell you stories about her.
That is her cute face. Here is her serious face.

Hey Seishin,
nearly all said bei Shinshi...
Personally, I like to upload to Treeleaf, because this way, the images will stay together with the text.
When hosted externally, there is a chance, that they're gone some day and in the (than old) post, there will be broken images.
I am resizing with a photo software and there is usually an option for JPG quality. When reducing the quality in the compression algorithm,
the images can be still big, but use less memory.
Gassho,

Being a novice priest doesn't mean my writing about the Dharma is more substantial than yours. Actually, it might well be the other way round.
Aussies are the best, most perfect exemplar of dogyness. Well that is what I think. You described them perfectly. Sonja is my third and all have been treasures. All unique - all different - but Aussies at heart. They are not a leave at home while you go to work dog. I am so grateful I work from home and get to hang out with her all day.
