    Going for Refuge

    Dear all

With the study of the precepts commencing for Jukai, I wanted to give a talk on Going for Refuge to the three jewels of Buddha, Dharma and Sangha.

At the sound of the bell I sit as Buddha,
embodying the teachings with all living beings.
Taking refuge in my true home
There is nowhere else I can be.

Any words I write here are merely the thoughts of an apprentice priest, just my opinions, that's all.

Thank you for the inspiring talk Kokuu! I really enjoyed that and will likely revisit from time to time.

FWIW, I also recite the three refuges at least once per day (usually as I light the candle and incense on my altar before zazen). It's a carryover from my own Theravada-based practice many years ago.

You’ve taught me the meaning of ‘home’ that i’ve sought forever.

    Thank you, Kokuu.

I have a lot to learn; take anything I say that sounds like teaching with a grain of salt.
