    Sekishi: Reflections on the Kesa

    Dear All,

As part of our novice priest training here at Treeleaf, we practice the simple yet profound acts of reciting the Verse of the Kesa, placing and tying on the Kesa over the left shoulder, then later, gracefully removing and refolding the Kesa.

Our Sekishi offered this talk to our priest-trainees with his reflections on all this. I thought to share with everyone.

By the way, Sekishi is not actually, technically a "Teacher" around here yet, as he has not completed all aspects of Dharma Transmission, the arcane documents and more arcane ceremonies with me as of yet ...

... but the "paperwork" is well along, and I consider it might as well be so now, so I placed this teaching here.

It will save me just moving it later.

Sekishi will make (already "is") a great teacher.

This was one of the first big lessons I learned from Sekishi, back when I joined Treeleaf. Hold gently, don’t grasp, respectfully acknowledge impermanence and honor it.

    Thanks, Sek!

Lovely talk. Thank you Sekishi. You may not technically be a teacher yet but I always learn from you.
