    Freediving and Goalless Goals

    Hi All,

I don't recommend that we all take up free diving ... the sport of deep ocean diving for minutes on a single breath ...

... but one of the greats had a comment on his "Zen" state of mind when doing so, the goalless nature of where he must be ... that resonates. I just post it for all the folks who struggle to understand how "goallessness" and working diligently for a goal are not exclusive at all (from the 5:00 mark, although I recommend the whole story) ...

I know from personal experience that many challenges in ordinary life, even if less extreme, can be approached just the same way.

In Zazen, we keep a natural breath ... no need to master special breath techniques. If free diving, well, that's a different story.

If you want a real challenge, you could be like Tom Cruise.

I think that is Scientology, not Zen.
