Our Shukke Tokudo Homeleaving Ordination of Koushi, Onkai, Nengei - SATURDAY-SUNDAY

    .

This coming Saturday, April 30th, 2022 (Sunday in Europe, Australia-New Zealand and Japan), our Sangha welcomes three new novice priests through the ritual of 'Shukke Tokudo' Homeleaving Ordination. You are invited to witness the event here ...

As is typical of our Sangha, the ceremony will be conducted simultaneously in various places around the world ... dropping all thought of here and there, now and then ... with the Preceptor (Jundo) in Japan, and our Ordainees, LAURIE ONKAI ZOLAS, JOSEPH NENGEI ALEXANDER and JESSE KOUSHI SHERRILL in the United States, all as witnessed by their fellow Priests and our Sangha members in many countries.

The exact time of the Ceremony is as follows:

    7am Odessa Sunday
    5am London Sunday
    Midnight Eastern Time USA (Saturday/Sunday)
    11pm Central USA Saturday
    10pm Mountain USA Saturday
    9pm Pacific USA Saturday
    8pm Alaska USA (Fairbanks) Saturday
    1pm Japan Sunday

Please know that the warm hearts of everyone witnessing the ceremony from home are present with us during the Ceremony. You are with us all in this time of celebration.

If you would like to read a bit more about the meaning of Shukke Tokudo Homeleaving as a Novice-Priest here at Treeleaf, please look here:

    Hi

As written in Shobo-genzo,chapter Shukke or Kesa Kudoku by master Dogen.

    I don't congratuate before celemony,already sew Rakusu,kesa,and have Oryo-ki?

I don't know detail about way of Shukke Tokudo at here.

But now,I can not say congraturation, right now.
    I just say.
Please throw away your all body and mind for Buddha.
    Please do your best.

And I will wait Jukai from Jundo to them.

Is this too hard to say?

I sew Okesa,Rakusu, and buy Oryoki, and other Dharma clothing before Shukke Tokudo.

Anyway Treeleaf is Treeleaf,Soto-shu is Soto-shu.But everything decided by Master Dogen.
    This is fact.

But I saw lots of new monks run away as monk.

And I try to wait celemony.I will try to join,if I can.(I will be at Sesshin from tomorrow.)

I share pic at my Shukke Tokudo.

No,no.. What I mean is that in the west, we have the habit of congratulating each other before things happen! 物事が起こる前に私たちはお互いを祝福します ( that is probably poorly written in Japanese! I hope it makes sense)

Please don't be so hard on us, Kakunen-San .
Each of us is trying to find a path to the pathless.
Trying to find joy during the journey to nothing and no-joy.
As Humans, after all, we must look forward , of course to understand the emptiness.
Milestones, however delusional, come and go, but they leave memories too.

All dedicated to buddha; even our expectations and paths, our requirements and qualifications. All begin and end in Buddha.

Yes, they have sewn Kesa, Rakusu and receive their bowls.

And you do not know that Master Dogen congratulated those who receive the Kesa in Shukke Tokudo? You do not know Kesa Kudoku nor Shukke Kudoku, his celebration of donning the Kesa and Leaving Home. This is Master Dogen's way.

Here the live streaming by the end turned rather poor and the picture froze many times.
