    We continue our dance with the Heart Sutra with these lines ...

    No/ eye/, ear/, nose/, tongue/, bo/dy/, mind/;

    No/ sight/, sound/, smell/, taste/, touch/, nor/ ob/ject/ of/ mind/;

    No/ realm/ of/ sight/, no/ realm/ of/ con/scious/ness/;

    No/ ig/no/rance/, no/ end/ to/ ig/no/rance/;

    No/ old/ age/ and/ death/,

    No/ ces/sa/tion/ of/ old/ age/ and/ death/;

    In Buddhism, there are six internal sense bases (Pali: ajjhattikāni āyatanāni; also known as, "organs", "gates", "doors", "powers" or "roots") and six external sense bases (bāhirāni āyatanāni or "sense objects"; also known as vishaya or "domains" or "fields" or "realms").

    eye and visible objects
    ear and sound
    nose and odor
    tongue and taste
    body and touch
    mind and mental objects

    Buddhism and other Indian epistemologies identify six "senses" as opposed to the Western identification of five. In Buddhism, "mind" denotes an internal sense organ which interacts with sense objects. ... In the Four Noble Truths, the Buddha identifies that the origin of suffering (Pali, Skt.: dukkha) is craving (Pali: taṇhā; Skt.: tṛṣṇā). In the chain of Dependent Origination, the Buddha identifies that craving arises from sensations that result from contact at the six sense bases."
    As to the Twelve-fold Chain of Dependent Origination, please see this essay from our "BUDDHA BASICS" Series:

    Jundo - Since you did not post a Hokey Pokey for this week, I've got a version ready to go on 78. Its a 1951 version by The Buccaneer Trio.

    If you do have something, we don't have to use this one. ^_^

    Thank you. I also sat over the weekend. I'm grateful these are available 'on demand' as I like to join live, but when that is not possible, joining later is still very good.
