I am a novice priest. Any resemblance my posts may have to actual teachings about the Dharma, living or dead, is purely coincidental (and just my attempt to be helpful).

I look forward to joining in afterward by recording and practicing all the steps. Do we chant along or stay silent, or is it optional?

Do mute your microphone though (because of internet lag chanting together tends to become a beautiful cacophony).

As a novice priest-in-training, this is simply an expression of my opinion. Please take it with a grain of salt.

The quote I could not recall (I was not kidding that I forget things) is from Zanmai-o-Zanmai by Master Dogen ...

there is the sitting of the mind, which is not the same as the sitting of the body. There is the sitting of the body, which is not the same as the sitting of the mind. There is the sitting of the body and mind sloughed off, which is not the same as the sitting of the body and mind sloughed off

I didnít make it in so much pain I was screaming Marjorie took care of me. Today I live in the aftermath of the horrible pain. Iím sorry I didnít make it. This was very important to me. I just am getting back to normal, I am still lost.
    Sorry I didnít make it.

I am sending metta to you, Tai Shi

About this zazenkai, I joined it later by watching the recording. I found it very helpful, the sitting and the talk - losing yourself and finding yourself again, and pouring yourself into your body... Which book was it that you mentioned with an example, Jundo? Was it your book The Zen Master's Dance (which I plan to read, now especially) or another book?

I aim to join the next zazenkai in 'real time' with my camera on...

Yes, yes, that is the book. Truly amazing work. I know the author, almost like looking in a mirror.

By the way, everyone, this is much like the 佛現香 (Buddha Appearing Incense, Butsugenkou) that was gifted by Dani. Here it is after burning, with an image of Buddha and a little chant to Amida left in the ashes ...

Hmmm. How do they make it? I will have to find out.

Excellent. I liked the example you gave and I wanted to read the book that it was from. I have ordered a copy.

The one which Dani gifted to us says Namu Amida Butsu [南無阿弥陀仏]: “Homage to Amida Buddha”

The one on the picture I posted from the internet, above, says Namu Shakamuni Butsu - 南無釈迦牟尼仏 “Homage to Shakyamuni Buddha”

Being a novice priest doesn't mean that my writing about the Dharma is more substantial than yours. Actually, it might well be the other way round.
