ARTS: 2021 February Painting & Drawing Theme: Sustenance

Greetings, Sangha members, and welcome to this frigid (in the northern hemisphere) or warm (in the southern hemisphere) February and our painting and drawing theme of the month: sustenance. What is sustenance in our life-practice? I invite you to express sustenance in a drawing or in a painting, simple or complex, quick or time-consuming, and to post a photo of your creative output here in this thread.

In commenting on others' posts, I remind you to be positive in what you say; to avoid criticism or unrequested advice/instruction. Let's enjoy the creative force alive in our Sangha.

20210214_151855.jpg this is me sitting zazen. zazen is my sustenance. it is my training ground for equanimity in the rest of my life doings. it is essential to my well-being, therefor i take sustenance from it.

John, I love how easily you conveyed the emotion and intention of zazen with your figure and facial expression. I agree that zazen is a type of sustenance.

This painting expressing sustenance, just finished a few days ago, is a little more direct; attractive food as sustenance.

This is an excellent take on the prompt, Krissy. I see the human connection factor in this, but also self care -- a major part of sustenance that some of us forget to tend to from time to time.

I like that you chose this for sustenance. Just today, I missed my morning sit due to a hectic day (first time in a long while). On a day like this, your sentiment here really resonates with me -- zazen is sustaining in many ways.

PS I have absolutely no clue if the kanji is right and if it is written properly

Nice work, Franz! I know nothing of kanji other than my own name, but this looks beautiful. Maybe Jundo or one of the others who are fluent will comment. I love the expectant look the frog has, and the way that the insect is suggested by the lines. Thank you for sharing this with us!

My apologies... somehow I got way behind.

Okay, not really somehow. I know how. But... here it comes.
