    I absolutely love these podcasts! Since you mentioned Dogen sounding a bit hippy, I came across some reaserch into the role of ethnogenic plants in early Buddhism.

    I'm not sure how valid this reaserch is, but it offers an interesting perspective on our relationship with nature.

    Hopefully it is unnecessary to say that the use of entheogens/hallucinogens is against the precepts, even if it is understandable that early adepts might have adopted and explored this path from mystics in other traditions.
