    I'll see you all soon.

It took me a few times to get the scheduled youtube video to "take", and hangouts was down periodically yesterday. If the wheels fall off and we cannot stream "live" to youtube tonight, I'll post a recording after the Zazenkai. But hopefully everything will be fine.

Thank you Jundo, Washin and all. Plain, ordinary, run of the mill, wonderful Zazenkai

I also appreciated the warm wave to all of us sitting later, yet with you -- it was a nice way to start a recorded Zazenkai.

My Ango has taken yet another detour but it's still just chopping wood and carrying water. To be honest this years Ango is so much more for its unexpected return to very real life stuff.

I have hit the wall I sit and stare at!

Sorry to miss Saturday, my apologies to all.

A friend has been diagnosed with cancer and been given two weeks to live. I went to the hospice over the weekend and photographed the gathering and a made a portrait of Paul. (His request - I'm a photographer)

I sat for the first time in 9 days today - I can't seem to face the cushion. Any advice?

I wrote this after seeing him :

    sorrow.
I tried to shield my eyes
    with laughter.
    yet I too
    became
    autumn leaves.

    Gassho,
    Brett.

So sorry for your friend and for you Brett! It’s a very honorable thing you’re doing, visiting and honoring his wish to have a portrait taken. Sit with the heartache Brett, if you can manage to get yourself on the zafu, or just sit with it off the zafu it the need be. There’s nothing to be done but to accept it and the fleeting nature of existence, to recall the times spent together and to remember whether we are here physically or not, our existence, however short or long, has had an impact on everything and even when we’re gone we just continue as part of everything else, physically and especially through our interactions, the memories we create, the things we said, the joy we brought or pain we caused, our children, friends that will remember us etc

SatToday lah (If I exceeded the limit, I apologize)

Brett, being with your friend was your Zazen and Ango for a time, facing the Great Matter of Life and Death. Now you have come back, but never really left.

We will dedicate Metta and all our sitting these days to Paul, his family and friends who love him.
