    Article: On Buddhism and Blackness

I ran across this article the other day and thought I would share. The author is a black woman, Valerie Brown, who studied with Thich Nhat Hanh. Her focus is on Mindfullness Meditation, so a little different than us. But I thought it was interesting.

    From the article:

"For 20 years, Brown had a high-powered career as a lawyer and lobbyist. Then she radically shifted the focus of her attention to Buddhism. She learned at the feet of the Vietnamese Zen master Thich Nhat Hanh and was ordained as a mindfulness teacher."

    On Buddhism and Blackness
Black activism and Buddhist mindfulness share a fascinating history — and future.

An excellent article with some timely reminders. I like the calligraphy of Thich Naht Hahn that Valerie mentions "Are you sure?".
    Thanks for sharing Shinshi.

    Thanks Shinshi,
I enjoyed this. I love Thich Nhat Hahn's gentle fierceness. ...his engaged Buddhism and word 'inter-being' and Valerie Brown's journey into presence.
    Good piece.
