    Happy Birthday, Dogen Zenji...

...Today I will dedicate before my daily routine a few minutes to master dogen and what he gave to us, this wonderful school of Soto zen, his great wisdom, this precious lineage and our wonderful Roshi Jundo, with his efforts to teach us the Dharma - this forum, unsuis, members, Sangha...our opportunity to practice the Dharma and to receive and take the precepts.

    Thank you all.

Well, his birthday was last week (the 19th), but nobody really knows the real date l think. Then again his birthday, and your and mine, is just this moment and this moment and this ... ever new.

Interesting, I'm wondering because even Soto Shu lists his birthday today:

Yes, they have a special ceremony in some of the big temples ...

... and we just sit Zazen forgetting time and dates, birth and death ... which is the ultimate commemoration, if ya ask me.

I agree, finally birth and death occur every moment, each single ksana is another birth, and the past is gone, isn't it?
