"What Is Zen?" Author & Zen Teacher Norman Fischer Coming to Treeleaf in January

Dear Book Club Readers and All Treeleafers,

I just confirmed that the great Zoketsu Norman Fischer will be coming to lead a Zazenkai, offering a Talk, on Saturday January 5th (from 9:30 AM California time, should last about 90 minutes). So, he will help us celebrate the New Year at Treeleaf, right before our upcoming Jukai Ceremony too. Details will be posted before then, so keep an eye out.

For those who do not know him ...

Zoketsu Norman Fischer is a poet and Soto Zen Buddhist priest. For many years he has taught at the San Francisco Zen Center, the oldest and largest of the new Buddhist organizations in the West, where he served as Co-abbot from 1995-2000. He is presently a Senior Dharma Teacher there as well as the founder and spiritual director of the Everyday Zen Foundation, an organization dedicated to adapting Zen Buddhist teachings to Western culture. Norman is a Dharma heir of Sojun Mel Weitsman.
I will post more about him in later announcements.

Being a novice priest doesn't mean my writing about the Dharma is more substantial than yours. Actually, it might well be the other way round.

Please take my words with a big grain of salt. I know nothing. Wisdom is only found in our whole-hearted practice together.

That is wonderful news! I am looking forward to it.

If anyone hasn't already checked out Rev Fischer's teachings, there is a whole library at Everyday Zen: http://everydayzen.org/study-guide/

Yes, corrected. I apparently have some ambivalence about time.

Norman is confirmed now for Saturday 1/5, from 9:30 AM California Time, and the Zazenkai and Talk will last about 90 minutes I think.

Details and information on how to join as we get closer to that date,

    Outstanding! Looking forward to it!

Recently picked up Normans book, "Taking our Places, The Buddhists path to Truly Growing Up", just to get a little better background.

I am just a priest-in-training, any resemblance between what I post and actual teachings is purely coincidental.
