One day I would like to volunteer, not now. I recognize I am still a beginner, I need to work on my time management and sleep discipline to be confident in my responsibility as a Zazen Hangout Host Volunteer. Keeping this goal in mind, it will help me stay motivated.

Hi! I sat with Kyousui tonight in the Scheduled Sitting Room. He led the robe verse at 9:00 and did the bells beginning the sit and ending at 9:30. It was wonderful.

For the past couple of weeks I've been sitting Monday through Friday from 9:30-10:00 am Eastern time in the Free Sitting room. I will be getting a bell on Monday afternoon. After that, I could sit in the Scheduled Sitting Room at that time (9:30-10:00 am Monday-Friday), if you are still adding to the schedule. Thank you.

Will it be a problem if once or twice every three months I cannot make it due to a doctor's appointment?

Thank you, Sekishi, Shingen, and Kyousui. I looked at the schedule. It shows me at 12:30 pm Eastern time, but I will be doing it 9:30 am Eastern time (I think that is 6:30 am Pacific time).

Kyousui, I won't be able to do it on Friday, March 22. I hope this notice isn't too far in advance.

    Hi all,

Now that I have a better internet connection, I would like to start hosting a sitting a few times a week.

I was thinking of three evenings that are almost always clear for me right now: Sunday night, Monday night, and, Thursday night (around the 10:00pm EDT hour).

Alternatively I've considered some sort of mid-day Zazen (e.g. "sit together at our desks during lunch" sort of thing). I think the biggest problem would be finding a time that works for folks. E.g. what is "lunch time" on the east coast of the US is not even a coffee-break on the west coast.

Anyhow, if you think you might be interested in either an evening or mid-day sitting in the US (or anywhere where the times would line up), I've set up a little survey for you to select times that would work best. Please consider filling it out.

I'll check this later to see if any of the times would be compatible with an early evening sit in the EU ; I'm keen to set up a formal evening sit, as I'd like to sit twice a day a d making an evening session more formal would be a good practice for me.

I would be able to host for 25 minutes on Tuesdays and/or Thursdays at 11.15 pm CEST (Paris/Brussels/Amsterdam time). This could be followed by a chat of about 5 minutes. Of course, there'll be days I can't make it.

Hi Jundo and all, I could host at the wee hours; the hours Available M-- F between 4 and 4:30 or even a half hour earlier or so a.m. Daylight Central USA, or same Standard. I am on a schedule requiring I'm up, but I have no responsibilities and I'm free, Often I do Shikantaza at that time. I'd be happy to host a few or so more or less, people, or just remain available.

Hi Meitou (and everyone) - There have not been a whole lot of responses to the survey, but the only time that EVERYONE agreed / strongly agreed to was: 9:30PM EDT / 8:30PM CDT / 6:30PMPDT

So I'm thinking that I'll start sitting this in the SSR on Monday (Sunday is our 4-hour Zazenkai this month). Please feel free to join me or not as the case may be!

Unfortunately that's the middle of my night, but no worries, perhaps it's the push I need to really knuckle down to committing to a regular evening sit - I'll see how that goes and come back here when I've sorted out the best day and time, it will be early evening Central Euro Time and during the week.
    Thanks for this.

Awesome! Thank you for the update Doshin.

And just as a note to all, I've added this sitting to the calendar over on Treeleaf NOW (treeleaf.org/now). The "NOW" feature will need to be revisited as we transition away from Hangouts and to Zoom, but for the time being, it is still accurate and we are still using the FSR and SSR.

    Good to know, Sekishi.

I use the FSR sometimes. I don't always announce on Insight when I've used it. I'm nearly always alone, but it's ok.

Will be interesting to see what develops -- I like the FSR, in whatever form it takes.

    Hi Doshin,

Your post made me smile -- that's usually me also.

FSR - Free (unscheduled, any time) sitting room.

SSR - Scheduled Sitting Room, has a list of scheduled sitting times with Kyonin, Shingen, and several others. I'm on mobile and don't have the link at present. But FSR and SSR are via Google Hangouts

    Hope that helps.

    Kim's got the acronyms down.

You can find the links here: www.treeleaf.org/now

As Sekishi said, for now the rooms are working. We know Google plans to phase out hangouts; so we will be moving to Zoom or something for these as well. But for now they are still available.
