Thread: Song

  1. #1

The wife and I have had a very productive Summer producing two albums (one for our music and one for another singer) as well as other creative projects that have been picking up a lot of steam. I want to share one song we wrote with y'all that I think is appropriate. This will be on our album that will be released next year. It's my wife's lyrics reflecting on life. She has a passing interest in Buddhism and you'll all catch the direct Buddhist reference in the bridge. She did all the vocals and drums. I'm on the bass, electric banjo, and piano.

You know Byrne, when someone shares a song, you never know what to expect. What a beautiful surprise.

Deep bows to you and your beautiful music, and thank you for sharing it here.

    Hi Byrne,

Thank you for sharing this. I'm enjoying the album very much so far (about half way through it while doing some work). However, I'm wondering which of these is the "one song" in particular you were referencing?

As a novice priest-in-training, this is simply an expression of my opinion. Please take it with a grain of salt.

Well whoopsie doodles. I meant to share just one song Feel Alive and accidentally shared the entire unmixed (and partially tracked) album. I changed the post with just the one song linked. For those of you who got the whole shebang, enjoy.

Very nice song! Your wife has a great voice.

As the text is important for the two of you, would you mind posting the lyrics?
Either I'm absorbed too much by the music, or my English is not good enough to catch more than a few fragments.
    Or both.
Would like to read what she's singing.

    Thank you both.

Great song, Byrne, and great voice again

Since my English is for sure much worse than Jika's I'd also love to read the lyrics if possible to enjoy the song even more. Thanks for sharing it.

Absolutely lovely, Byrne. Thank you so much for sharing. It is greatly appreciated.

Feel free to message me if you wish to talk about issues around practicing with physical limitations. This is something I have been sitting with for a fair while and am happy to help with suggestions or just offer a listening ear.

Here's the lyrics for all y'all who asked.

    Feel Alive
    by Megan Jean

Save your money in an escrow, stack your paper in a neat row

Do you feel alive, feel alive?

Tell your Daddy that he don’t know, teach your mama how to eat crow

Do you feel alive, you feel alive

yeah do you feel alive you feel alive

Are you brave enough to dance in a broken world

when the lights dim and the movement seems absurd

you brave enough to dance in a broken world

    when the movement seems absurd

Build a house with your two hands, pass it down to your children

Do you feel alive you feel alive

Pick a plot upon a great hill, work your life away to die well

Do you feel alive you feel alive. yeah, do you feel alive you feel alive

Are you living half life? Or like a hungry ghost?

Are you floating with your mouth wide or are you comatose?

are you up to all your old tricks or do you seek unknowns?

Are you judging by the metrics or by the flesh and bones.
