A couple of folks asked about chanting Metta for the Webb Space Telescope (Webba?), since is not the "Loving Kindness" there meant for Sentient Beings?

I wrote this ...

Hmmm. Zen folks, like Dogen, are always fuzzy on what is a "sentient being." In this case, is not Webb but an extension of our human eyes, letting us look at the stars and galaxies, which are also another face of us? We can also chant for all the people who are working so hard to keep Webb seeing. They are also us in other guise, and we are all of them.

How about that?

Today I selfishly ask for metta for myself. I fell over twice today. Hurt knees and hands. Falling over is something that happens occasionally to people like me. I have an awkward combination of Fibromyalgia, Myalgic Encephalomyelitis and sight loss. Some types of light are easier for me than others. The low and bright winter sun is a difficult one. Sorry for being miserable and please excuse me running long.

I'd like to request just a little metta for three people. My team works in pairs, completing mental health assessments. Tonight, while assessing one person who was angry but not mentally unwell, my colleague was assaulted, and I had to violently restrain the patient. My colleague and I have only minor injuries, but it was quite upsetting for all concerned. So, the request is for metta for my colleague, for the patient who I hope can learn to see beyond anger and violence, and for me as I really did not enjoy having to use violence to protect my colleague (though I had little choice if I wanted to protect her).

As some of you know my 10 year old son was in the hospital due to FLU A.

I thought everyone was getting better and in the “all clear” but my three year old is now borderline for going to the hospital. Her temp right now is above the highest it should be for a three year old.

We called her pediatrician office to speak to the call service/night time nurse. The nurse faxed my daughters fever and symptoms to Denver Pediatrics. Within the hour we are supposed to be getting a call from Denver Pediatrics to let my wife and I know if we are going to the hospital.

Requesting metta for my daughter and family.
