    Often Asked - How-to Add an Avatar Photo

    For some time I have been trying to get my profile photo to show up on the forums. All profile photos appear except for mine even though it appears in my profile page. It is 87x100, 19.5kb. I went to general settings>thread display options> show visible elements & checked signatures, avatars & images then saved. I also allowed the vcard to download. I would be grateful if someone can tell me what I am missing. Gassho. Ka

    Hello

    Give this a try and let me know if it works for you. =)

    Here is a walk through in creating or changing your Avatar:

    1. Click on "Settings" in the user profile section.
    2. Scroll down to the "My Settings" box and click "Edit Avatar" in the My Profile section.
    3. Click the "Use Custom Avatar" radio button.
    4. Enter a URL in the Option 1 box if the custom image you wish to use is on a website. Ensure that the image meets the requirements for size listed below the box. If the custom image is stored on your computer, click the "Browse" button in the Option 2 box, select the file and click "Open."
    5. Click "Save Changes" to see the avatar as it will appear on the site. The avatar will appear alongside your user name when you post a message on the site. New avatar's retroactively appear with previous posts.

    Q: I cannot upload my picture for my profile because it is too large. How can I re-size my picture to conform to the forums image upload requirements?

    A: A quick and easy way to do this is to visit http://shrinkpictures.com/create-avatar/
    and follow the instructions given there. Also if you have re-sized your image and are certain it meets the 80 px by 80px @ 72 ppi requirements yet still cannot upload your image you can visit http://imageshack.us or http://www.flickr.com/ or any image hosting service and upload your image to be hosted, for free, there. and use the "Link to off-site Avatar" option

    I tried different options, but every time I try to upload a picture it lets me know I can't. Any suggestions? The pic is showing on my profile... but I can't see it when I post.

    Hello,
    I can see your Avatar besides your posting and also your Profile picture on your Profile-page.

    Oh! Thanks Kotei, it is weird: I can't see my picture... or yours, in fact I can't see anybody's picture!
    You have a clue on how to solve this mistery?

    Perhaps you are signed in by a phone or are not looking at our main page? We see you fine!

    Hmm,
    besides what Jundo wrote (the phone or web-browser issue), the only idea I have is the setting about showing Avatars.
    In ->My Settings
    under
    My Account -> General Settings
    in the section "Thread Display Options", there is a 'Show Avatars' checkbox.

    Maybe that is not enabled?

    For what it's worth, I only see folks' avatars when using Tapatalk or if I'm on a web browser and NOT logged in. After logging in, all avatars disappear for some reason. Just FYI...

    Hi Rob,

    I would try clearing your browser's cached images if you haven't already.
    Additionally, since you described the issue relating to being logged in as yourself (at least from the browser), maybe try deleting the cookies for treeleaf from that same browser and logging in again to get a fresh new cookie.

    Hope that helps, let us know!

    Gassho,
    C.

    Well, thank you folks, it doesn't matter if I can't see the pics, but I will try to delete my cookies as well.
