July 11th-12th, 2014 Treeleaf Weekly Zazenkai

Re-MINDer: This will be our last regularly scheduled Friday/Saturday Treeleaf Zazenkai until the end of August. However, Zazenkai will be netcast every few days (times to be posted soon) from our Sangha Member's homes during Jundo's DHARMA TRACKS Across AMERICA (Jul 16-Aug 26) & the WASHINGTON RETREAT (Aug 9-14) guided by Taigu. Please come sit with us then.

    Hello All,

Please 'sit-a-long' with our weekly FRIDAY/SATURDAY 'LIVE FROM TREELEAF' 90 minute ZAZENKAI, netcast LIVE from 9am Japan time Saturday morning (that is New York 8pm, Los Angeles 5pm (Friday night), London 1am and Paris 2am (early Saturday morning)

... and to be visible at the following link during those times and sit-a-long-able any time thereafter ...

LIVE ZAZENKAI NETCAST at GOOGLE+ IS HERE:

FOR THOSE NOT ALREADY MEMBERS OF THE CIRCLE WHO WISH TO JOIN TO SIT LIVE WITH A CAMERA, INSTRUCTIONS ARE POSTED AT THIS LINK. WE ARE NOW LIMITED TO 10 INDIVIDUALS WITH CAMERAS, BUT ANY NUMBER CAN WATCH LIVE 'ONE WAY' AND SIT-A-LONG VIA THE ABOVE SCREEN. IF JOINING WITH CAMERA, PLEASE MAKE SURE YOUR MICROPHONE IS MUTED:

    00:55 – 01:25 ZAZEN
    01:25 – 01:30 FOUR VOWS & VERSE OF ATONEMENT

As you can see, our Zazenkai consists of chanting the 'Heart Sutra' in English (the words are at the link below), some full floor prostrations in sets of three (please follow along with me ... or a simple Gassho can be substituted if you wish), followed by our Dedication, Zazen twice for about 30 minutes each, with 10 minutes of Kinhin in between, and we end the sitting with 'The Verse of Atonement' and 'The Four Vows'.

Please download and print out the Chants we will recite at the following link (PDF):

    or

    Chant Book (SHORT VERSION HTML)

So, please join us as soon as you can, and we will keep a Zafu open for you.

Remember, when we drop all thought of 'here' 'there' 'now' 'then' ... we are sitting all together!

I'd love so much to be there live, but I am not sure if I will be able to arrive home from work on time.
If not I will surely join "one-way" after kinhin and sit the second zazen to the end of the netcast.

Maybe I will be able to join the next Zazenkais as the time difference between US and Argentina is shorter.

May you all have a wonderful weekend.

    Walter

I will be sitting the recorded version later tonight. I have a terribly exciting paper to write on medical billing!

I couldn't and still can't get a link to today's zazenkai on any of my devices. So I sat without your virtual presence but I know with your heart presence. Gassho

    Thank you all.

Please excuse me, for trying to join live late. It was a mistake.
I was so eager to join and was alone with the kids making dinner early for them.
When I finished it was late so I thought I could join after kinhin.

After doing it I realized that if it was a physical meeting I would never, ever, had entered late.
That's why I appeared for a short time during kinhin and then disappeared.
I was trying to watch without turning on my camera, but did it in G+ instead of going to YouTube.

I didn't mean to be disrespectul. I feel embarrassed.

P.S.: I finally sat on Saturday, early in the morning, but was kind of distracted by the screen.
I will have to put it in another position next time, and get used to this way of sitting.

    Hi Walter,

While it is best to sit start to finish, and not come in and out ... nonetheless, sometimes it happens. Somebody's connection cuts, somebody's neighbor comes to the door, somebody is due in class early, etc. etc. Please do not worry. In fact, I do not think most of us even noticed this happened (I did not). If you can, please do sit start to finish ...

... but always knowing there is no starting or finishing, coming or going.

Do not face the screen. Face the wall, drop the screen from mind. The screen is ultimately not distracting, but your mind is.
