    Buddhism Online - Buddhist Geeks

It seems Buddhist Geeks, the guys producing the famous podcast but also running the BG community on Google+, had no success in getting enough revenues in order to finance the team. They announced the community will stay up for the next few months but they prepare a new project, BG Dojo.

One of the issues they mention is the fact that the community primarily engages in peer2peer learning, which means that qualified but also unqualified people 'teach' - which causes legal problems and increases their overhead even more.

It will be interesting to see how BG Dojo will try to solve this.

Thank you for the information, Roland.

I am a fan of many of their Podcasts (I was one) ...

... and I am sorry to hear that. But I have also had some questions, as what they are teaching there now seems primarily to focus on the "Intergral" movement (which the blogger Mumon discussed in a series of posts awhile back).

However, I hope they work things out.

Their podcast are hit and miss to me. Not much middle ground. I will have to give your episode a listen Jundo!

This is a problem all over the internet on forums far and wide. That's why I just send people here if they have questions and why I have this as my facebook cover:

If I'm already enlightened why the hell is this so hard?

Thank you for the information, Roland. I have found some of their podcasts useful in the past but, like Jundo, have wondered about their direction. I am not a huge fan of Integral Theory or the people who teach it and find it adds little to Buddhism.

In any case, I wish them well for the future. This kind of online teaching is undoubtedly a work in progress and it may take a few tries before organisations hit on a model which works both financially and for the mutual benefit of all involved.
