Some thing that the Buddha said that was a bit curious
I have killed all of you before.
I was chopped up by all of you in previous lives.
We have all killed each other as enemies.
Is it not that also fair to say that I have loved all of you before.
and I was blessed by all of you in previous lives.
And we have all loved each other as family?
This is curious and perhaps short sided to say the least.

Hello,
I have looked a bit, seen it quoted, but cannot find the original Sutra from which the quote is said to come.
However, one might suppose that we are in each other, each blade of grass or grain of sand and child's smile ... each gentle or violent act. We have lived countless times in this way, sometimes friends and sometimes enemies, sometimes cruel and sometimes gentle.
Although I am rather skeptical of very literal views of rebirth, I fully believe in seeing our rebirth in such way above.

Still, if we truly see ourself in all experiences is it prudent to only judge things based on the yang aspect of them?
Granted it is also not good to see things as only the yin shows us.

HI,
I have never been much for a belief in "Yin & Yang", or the "I-Ching", and various other bits of Chinese folk beliefs, fortune telling and superstition that are really not part of Buddhism. (My wife does sometimes call me a "yinyang" however++)
There is good in the world, there is evil ... and in us. I spoke about this recently:

++ For our international friends, "yinyang" is a bit of English slang that means "crazy idiot"

Re: Some thing that the Buddha said that was a bit curious
yeah, I did mean that in the eastern sense of the word, not calling anyone crazy, lol.
It's really just one of the better metaphors for positive verses negative.
Re: Some thing that the Buddha said that was a bit curious
Is this perhaps the Buddha's (or a buddhists) way of saying...haven't we all been through all this before! Lets move on ...or at least try a different Way?
