This Sunday, our Sangha will welcome new novice priests through the ritual of Shukke Tokudo Ordination. As is typical of our Sangha, the ceremony will be conducted simultaneously in three places around the world ... dropping all thought of here and there, now and then ... with the Preceptor (Jundo Cohen) in Japan, and our Ordainees in Austin, Texas and New York. (We also will welcome one additional new novice priest, Myozan of Dublin, Ireland, who was recently Ordained by Rev. Taigu).

If you would like to witness the ceremony, and join in our celebration, the netcast will be seen at this link ...

http://www.justin.tv/treeleafzen (http://http://www.justin.tv/treeleafzen)

... at the following times on APRIL 22nd ...

11pm Japan time Sunday evening (that is New York 10am, Los Angeles 7am Sunday morning, London 3pm and Paris 4pm Sunday afternoon) ...

... for about an hour or so.

Here's a bit more about it ...

Hi everybody,
Looking forward to the ceremony. Iíll be right there with my two classmates, the wonderful Dosho and Shinkai. I was going to say break a leg ... but it would be hard to sit if you did! ;-)
Good luck to everyone involved.

Marvelous news! Congrats to our new priests!

Sadly I won't be able to attend because last month I signed up for a 10K race this Sunday... but I will run with you guys in my heart. And as soon as I get home I'll sit with you watching the ceremony.

Wild two-year old, I definitely can relate! Oh my!!! Yes, I can relate very, very much.

I love my 2-year old no matter what or how wild he is. However, I catch those moments on video and I will patiently wait until he is a teenager. Then when he brings home his girlfriend, it's time to break the old family time videos

Depending on my youngest son's mood, there may be a wild 2 year old running around on camera during the ceremony! So, no problem! ;)

Congratulations, I work that morning but I may be able get away for a few moments to watch depending on how busy it is. One of the benefits of working maintenance at a hotel is that we have a lot of downtime on Sundays, so I may or may not be in attendance, but will be there regardless.

Hi there,

I've never joined a netcast live - have web cam on my lap top. How do I proceed - do I need to sign up to Justin TV?
Is there a link for this that I can read and try and get beyond my techni-phobia?

Thanks,

Willow

Excellent news! Many congratulations to the new priests to be tomorrow and very best of wishes. i will try to attend if i break free of the clutches from a 7 yr old and 3 yr old! I totally agree that distance makes no difference because we are all together.

Deep gassho

DO TO "TECHNICAL NON-DIFFICULTIES" WITH THE INTERNET OR ONE OF OUR COMPUTERS, THE SHUKKE TOKUDO ORDINATION COULD NOT PROCEED TONIGHT. THAT IS JUST HOW THINGS ARE, TECHNO-KARMA. WE WILL REGROUP AND RESCHEDULE THE CEREMONY IN A FEW WEEKS. ALL HAPPENS IN ITS OWN TIME. GASSHO, JUNDO

BACK IN DOGEN's DAY, I AM SURE THAT THEY HAD OTHER REASONS TO DELAY A CEREMONY ... 13th CENTURY REASONS LIKE A SAMURAI BATTLE IN THE NEIGHBORHOOD OR SOMETHING. OURS IS JUST A 21st CENTURY REASON.

Oh, well ... if a prospective monk feels disappointment because life takes an unexpected turn ...

... then maybe part of the point of becoming of monk is missed! Perhaps the most poignant Ceremony of renunciation is the one where one is unattached even to the Ceremony and is fully in tune with delay thereof. By not clinging to the ceremony which did not go as planned, one learns the real meaning of what the Ceremony celebrates!

Anyway, all in its time ... or not its time. We happen not to believe in a future or past, so any time is the time. 8)
