Hi,

Please 'sit-a-long' with our weekly FRIDAY/SATURDAY 'LIVE FROM TREELEAF' 90 minute ZAZENKAI, netcast LIVE TODAY from 9am Japan time Saturday morning (that is New York 7pm, Los Angeles 4pm (Friday night), London midnight and Paris 1am (early Saturday morning))

... and to be visible at the following link during those times ...

LIVE ZAZENKAI NETCAST at USTREAM:

http://www.ustream.tv/channel/sit-a-long-with-jundo (http://http://www.ustream.tv/channel/sit-a-long-with-jundo)

But FEAR NOT if not possible for you to join 'live' in your location at those times, as the entire sitting is recorded in 'REAL TIME' and available for full participation 'on demand' at any time after that, no different from the 'live' sitting :

'REAL TIME' recorded 'ANY TIME' version link is here:

http://www.ustream.tv/recorded/12308779

OUR 90 MINUTE SITTING SCHEDULE IS AS FOLLOWS:

00:00 – 00:15 CEREMONY (HEART SUTRA in English ONLY) and Dedication
00:15 – 00:45 ZAZEN
00:45 – 00:55 KINHIN
00:55 – 01:25 ZAZEN
01:25 – 01:30 FOUR VOWS, & VERSE OF ATONEMENT

As you can see, our Zazenkai consists of chanting the 'Heart Sutra' in English (the words are at the link below), some full floor prostrations in sets of three (please follow along with me ... or a simple Gassho can be substituted if you wish), followed by our Dedication, Zazen twice for 30 minutes each, with 10 minutes of Kinhin in between, and we end the sitting with 'The Verse of Atonement' and 'The Four Vows'.

Please download and print out the words of the Chants we will recite at the following link:

viewtopic.php?f=11&t=2231 (http://http://www.treeleaf.org/forum/viewtopic.php?f=11&t=2231)

So, please join us as soon as you can, and we will keep a Zafu open for you.

Remember, when we drop all thought of 'here' 'there' 'now' 'then' ... we are sitting all together!

Thanks for zazenkai tonight. Was great sitting with you all.

Have to share something that may be a Treeleaf first, mobile zazenkai!

I was running late on my way home and was a bit bummed out that I was going to be late to zazenkai...when I remembered that I had downloaded a couple of Ustream apps (http://www.ustream.tv/mobile) on my phone.

So I opened up the Ustream viewer, filtered on Jundo for live broadcasts and bingo there you guys were! I popped my phone in my GPS holder and was able to do the chants, bows (no prostrations of course...) and modified-zazen while driving home, at which time I switched to normal laptop mode to finish up.

Technology is amazing isn't it?

Gassho,

Shawn

To Jundo and all in Tsukuba; all those in ustream; as well as Shujin and Roky straddling ustream and Zen Hall; Shawn on his means in addition!
Gassho all,

Yes, well, Lotus Posture makes it hard to reach the brake pedal. so not recommended

I went to an art museum in Tokyo yesterday at which some well known artists were using Ustream to create video art installations. One fellow, for example, used two Ustream live netcasts simultaneously to create a single image, half broadcast from the art gallery, and half from somewhere else in the world. Very cool. One theme of the exhibit was using audio-visual media to change our concepts of space, and "here there now then" ... the theme around this place too.

Hi all,

Wasn't able to join in the Zazenkai (Friday night my time) becuse of my tea lesson. I have borrowed/hijacked the family computer and moved it to a spare room(much better than the kitchen where it usually sits) so that i can participate on demand tomorrow morning!

Thanks Shawn for posting about using ustream though a mobile device. I saw that when i registered and was curious.

John

Thank you Jundo Sensei for the link on this exhibition.

Instantly made me think of this line from the Matrix

Child to Neo: "Do not try to bend the spoon, that's impossible. instead only try to realize the truth..........there is no spoon."

I sat this morning with the recorded version. I am, unfortunately, going on very little sleep, but this was a very nice way to ease quietly into my day.

Wishing everyone a lovely weekend.

Been a bit busy, forgot to post, sat zazenkai Saturday afternoon, no technical hitches. I was duly amazed. Thanks for all who sat.
