MARKING THE 'OFFICAL' START OF OUR TREELEAF 'ANGO' 100 DAY SPECIAL PRACTICE SEASON ...details on 'ANGO' here: viewtopic.php?f=7&t=2738 (http://http://www.treeleaf.org/forum/viewtopic.php?f=7&t=2738)

Please 'sit-a-long' with our SATURDAY 'LIVE FROM TREELEAF' 90 minute ZAZENKAI... the entire sitting is recorded in 'REAL TIME' and available for full participation 'on demand' at any time no different from the 'live' sitting :

'REAL TIME' recorded 'ANY TIME' version link is here:

HOWEVER ... PLEASE NOTE THAT DUE TO SOME TECHNICAL ISSUES WITH THE RECORDING THIS WEEK, THE FOLLOWING IS A 'RE-SIT' OF LAST WEEK'S ZAZENKAI WITH TAIGU AND OUR VISITORS FROM FRANCE (well, that's a nice start to Ango too ... and sitting is sitting!) :)

http://www.ustream.tv/recorded/8996866 (http://http://www.ustream.tv/recorded/8996866)

(That also means that we get to hear again that wonderful Heart Sutra recitation in Japanese by Taigu)

OUR 90 MINUTE SITTING SCHEDULE IS AS FOLLOWS:

00:00 – 00:15 CEREMONY (HEART SUTRA) and Dedication
00:15 – 00:45 ZAZEN
00:45 – 00:55 KINHIN
00:55 – 01:25 ZAZEN
01:25 – 01:30 FOUR VOWS, & VERSE OF ATONEMENT

As you can see, our Zazenkai consists of chanting the 'Heart Sutra', some full floor prostrations in sets of three (please follow along with me ... or a simple Gassho can be substituted if you wish), followed by our Dedication, Zazen twice for 30 minutes each, with 10 minutes of Kinhin in between, and we end the sitting with 'The Verse of Atonement' and 'The Four Vows'.

Please download and print out the words of the Chants we will recite at the following link:

viewtopic.php?f=11&t=2231 (http://http://www.treeleaf.org/forum/viewtopic.php?f=11&t=2231)

So, please join us as soon as you can, and we will keep a Zafu open for you.

Remember, when we drop all thought of 'here' 'there' 'now' 'then' ... we are sitting all together!

Hmmm, I seem to be experiencing some "technical difficulties" :)

I am trying to watch the livecast, and according to all of my calculations (it's currently 8:43 am Sat in NYC, etc), it should be going on currently? But it doesn't seem to be, and so I'm wondering if I'm doing this correctly.

I think I'll just wait until the "anytime" cast is on and watch it then! Thanks, e-sangha 8)

If anyone knows what I'm not doing properly to catch this live, please let me know.

Until then, happy Ango everyone.

Love.

Well we did lose signal there for a while, but it was funny I could still feel everyone still just sitting. What a wonderful beginning for our Ango, very unauspisciously auspicious....glad I didn't wear my bells. :)

What's that priest-in-training always saying: "It's all good practice".

Unfortunately I couldn't sit all the zazenkai with you!
But I'm happy I could sit 15min with all of you to commemorate the beggining of Ango!
I wish good practice to everyone and a lot of courage!
Because 100 days is a long and beautiful commitment!

gassho to all of you!

Very nice.

I tried to time Zazenkai to avoid interruptions and was interrupted anyway. Didn't let it bother me and just went with the flow. As has been said, it's all good practice, right? Have a great weekend, everyone!

I would like to note that I will be participating in the zazenkai in a somewhat modified fashion for the first half (or so) of Ango, given certain constraints of my current setup: I will be following the zazenkai schedule but not following along with the netcast. I will be doing the zazenkai either on Saturday or Sunday in my practice space on the other side of the house from my computer :) This will also help me 'ease into it' by throwing myself right into doing it, without re-training myself with chant translations that are new to me or having to fuss over setting up my computer each time or moving my cushion all over. Hopefully, after I have moved in with my folks in Virginia for a couple of months starting in October, I can tune in live and have my computer going as I "sit along." I may start doing this sooner, as I establish the habit of doing this every Saturday and "having to re-train or re-learn" doesn't become an excuse not to do it at all.

Good to sit with you all. My little warriors woke up during the last few minutes of chanting. My toddler was studying me quizzically during the Four Vows, while his infant brother was roaring in his playpen. Good times in the zoo. :D Glad to be a part of Ango.
