Greetings, Sangha members, and welcome to this frigid (in the northern hemisphere) or warm (in the southern hemisphere) February and our painting and drawing theme of the month: sustenance. What is sustenance in our life-practice? I invite you to express sustenance in a drawing or in a painting, simple or complex, quick or time-consuming, and to post a photo of your creative output here in this thread.

In commenting on others' posts, I remind you to be positive in what you say; to avoid criticism or unrequested advice/instruction. Let's enjoy the creative force alive in our Sangha.

7015 this is me sitting zazen. zazen is my sustenance. it is my training ground for equanimity in the rest of my life doings. it is essential to my well-being, therefor i take sustenance from it.

John, I love how easily you conveyed the emotion and intention of zazen with your figure and facial expression. I agree that zazen is a type of sustenance.

This painting expressing sustenance, just finished a few days ago, is a little more direct; attractive food as sustenance.

Sent from my iPhone using TapatalkThis is an excellent take on the prompt, Krissy. I see the human connection factor in this, but also self care -- a major part of sustenance that some of us forget to tend to from time to time.

I like that you chose this for sustenance. Just today, I missed my morning sit due to a hectic day (first time in a long while). On a day like this, your sentiment here really resonates with me -- zazen is sustaining in many ways.

Nice work, Franz! I know nothing of kanji other than my own name, but this looks beautiful. Maybe Jundo or one of the others who are fluent will comment. I love the expectant look the frog has, and the way that the insect is suggested by the lines. Thank you for sharing this with us!

Are we going to do a March drawing prompt? I rather enjoyed doing these.

My apologies... somehow I got way behind.

Okay, not really somehow. I know how. But... here it comes.
