Feeling better, so can post this today. Below is my demonstration of how to "sit" Zazen with the flu or like illness. Not sure what I was mummbling but I think it was this:

All is just what it is, sick is just sick ... yet yucky is yucky.

Nothing to cure ... yet take your medicine, try to get better.

Okay to moan ... even the Buddha got sick.

When he had eaten Cunda's food, I heard,
With fortitude the deadly pains he bore.
From the sukara-maddava a sore
And dreadful sickness came upon the Lord.
But nature's pangs he endured. "Come, let us go
To Kusinara," was his dauntless word.

Mahaparinirvana Sutta

Not sure how dauntless I was, need to ask my wife about that one (She was sick too, a couple of days ahead of me). She isn't married to the Buddha.

Anyway, this is how to "sit" Zazen when sick ...

PS- the picture, whatever it looks like, were some scientists and doctors trying to see what was hidden in an old Buddha statue. There was a mummy of an old Chan Master inside. LINK (http://www.robswebstek.com/2014/12/buddha-statue-with-mummy-in-hospital.html)

Thank you, Jundo.

At least, you gave the dead substance 'virus' a new life for some days and passed it further on for development, to come back later, next year :-).
Get better soon, poor teacher.

We had the flu shot! I was reading recently that they have to guess a couple of years before, and their are many variations, and it is hit or miss. I guess they missed for us this year. :p

https://www.cdc.gov/flu/about/qa/vaccineeffect.htm

HOWEVER, always highly recommended I believe for children, the elderly and others with physical risk. Consult you doctor.

Anyway ... 80& better here.

I figured you must have had the shot, since you were traveling and all. We are traveling for the holiday too, airports and restaurants and hotels and all their assorted germiness. My kids hate how I am always brandishing the hand sanitizer.

So glad you are feeling better!!

Feel better quickly, Jundo. I just came off a bout of Strep Throat. The after effects of medication was almost as bad. Sickness passes. Zazen stays.

Maybe India was a bit of a stressful whirlwind? ........

No, my wife got the same thing two days ahead of me like clockwork. My joke is that I made it through India without a tummy ache ... and got socked with something from the wife. :)

By the way, did I mention how I went into one restaurant in India, recommended by a friend, where a cow wandered in to sample the soup, siticking its head into and lapping up the pot. The owner chased off the cow ... apparently you can't kill cows in India, but you can hit them and yell ... then went ahead and served the soup out of the same pot? I had been served pre-cow, so went ahead with the meal.
