FOLLOWED BY DEDICATION OF MERIT - READ BY INO ONLY:

Buddha Nature pervades the whole universe, Reality, existing right here:
In reciting THE HEART OF THE PERFECTION OF GREAT WISDOM SUTRA we dedicate our sincere efforts to:
•Shakyamuni Buddha Honored One; the Historical Buddha and Teacher …
    and to those ancestral teachers:
    Eihei Dogen Honored One
    Soji Keizan Honored One,
All successive Honored Ones up until
    Renpo Niwa Honored One and
    Gudo Wafu Honored One
and to all other Honored Ones throughout history, Male and Female Honored Ones, whose names have been forgotten or left unsaid.
We also dedicate these efforts to the Three Treasures,
    Buddha, Dharma, Sangha,
To all Awakened Ones and Teachers in all places and times.

We especially seek tranquility & well being for all creatures now suffering or ill in health.
May they be serene through all their ills.
May their lives be at peace and Wisdom pervade the darkness of ignorance.

We dedicate our hopes and aspirations:
To all victims of war and terrorism
To the injured and to all families touched by these tragedies
To the healing of hatred in all countries and among all peoples
To the wisdom and compassion of our world leaders
To the peace of the world and harmony of all beings.

Thus, let the harmful effects of words, thoughts and actions be dispelled
and Compassion bloom in perpetual spring.
May we all realize and live the Enlightened Way together:

    EVERYONE CHANTS:

ψ All Buddhas throughout space and time
    ψ All Bodhisattvas-Mahasattvas
    ψ Maha • Prajna • Paramita ••••••• (followed 3x PROSTRATIONS by EVERYONE) • • •

    BE SEATED AS INSTRUCTED

    Zazen
    kinhin
    Zazen

    Then...

At the end of the Zazenkai, we recite the following::

    VERSE OF ATONEMENT:

All harmful acts, words and thoughts, ever committed by me since of old,

On account of beginningless greed, anger and ignorance,

Born of my body, mouth and mind,

Now I atone for them all

FOUR VOWS (to be recited 3x , vibrant on the second, soft on the third time):

To save all sentient beings, though beings numberless

To transform all delusions, though delusions inexhaustible

To perceive Reality, though Reality is boundless

To attain the Enlightened Way, a Way non-attainable

    -----------

Looking forward to sitting with you.

    Deep bows and Gassho,

    Hans Chudo Mongen

    Hi Hans,

I'll be watching my eldest son trying to hit a baseball off a tee and catch grounders and fly balls then, so I'll have to sit with the recorded version sometime over the weekend.

Re: May 12th, 2012 Treeleaf Weekly Zazenkai

    Hi everyone,

I have asked Mongen to calculate the times in North America (East and West Coast) and UK/Europe as we usually do, just to confirm. So, he will post those.

Also, I also made a change to the chant to add "natural events" dedication. I am also going to remove "terrorism" and add "violence", which I have been thinking is better for awhile as so many sentient beings are victims of violence in all manner. Gassho, Jundo

    IMPORTANT UPDATE:

The Zazenkai will start 15 minutes later than planned. My whole computer shuts down the second I access my webcam...this has never ever happened before, so please give me a few minutes to fix this.

    Thank you for your patience.

    Hey folks,

don't be so nice, otherwise I could get used to it

Seriously though, excuse my abyssmal performance. After frantically trying to get things working for more than an hour, I was both mentally and physically drained, not an excuse, but a description.. And you know what, I still have no idea what the problem was, Logitech, Microsoft or something else.

All the best and deep bows,

    Hans
