Thread: Dharma nerds

    Dharma nerds

I'm a huge nerd. Zen is nerdy and I think that's part of the reason I love it so much. What I love even more is the intersection of really geeky/nerdy things with Zen. In that vein, I recommend this book:

    The Dharma of Star Wars

... not really as a "serious" Buddhist book, but just as a fun geeky read.

I also really love the 8-bit Buddha and the An.Ja.Li (Gassho) emoticon badges from Buddha Badges:

Anyone else want to fess up to some nerdery?

The Star Wars book looks fun. I am a huge Star Wars fan but I like the older movies better.

    Thanks,

I really liked those buttons. They'd be fun to leave in random places for people to find.

    Hi.

I second the notion of "The dharma of star wars" being a great book.
    I really recommend it.

Big nerd here, reporting for duty!

Although I never really considered Zen nerdy. I guess anything can be nerdy if you approach it a certain way.

    Re: Dharma nerds

Dharma Nerds to me was always a reference to those know-it-all types on general buddhist forums, that have read all the Pali Suttas etc, know the Buddha's words backwards...but don't have the first bit of emotional intelligence in order to talk to someone without offending them.

    LOL

    I love Star Wars.

I found this Venn diagram very helpful. (And let's face it, using a Venn diagram to explain this puts things firmly in nerdsville.)

There should be a category for SW(++++)!()
for Star Wars, I loved the original trilogy, but can't watch the prequel - I don't care about the inner workings of the trade federation.
