    SIT-A-LONG with JUNDO: WHOLENESS

    .

Today's talk was offered during our September ZAZENKAI to mark the startless start of our annual JUKAI (Undertaking the Precepts) season of Rakusu sewing, Zazen sitting and Precepts study, as well as the continuation of our ongoing ANGO (90-Day Special Practice Period) at Treeleaf Sangha ...

If I were pressed to describe the heart of all our Practices in one word ... Zazen, living by Precepts, all we do from sewing a Rakusu to bowing to chanting a Meal Gatha ... that one word is WHOLENESS.

This way allows us to realize ... and to make real in this life ... that Wholeness that is all things, that is you and me too. It is a Wholeness that sweeps in even the seeming broken pieces, both the happy and sad, the ups and downs, the beautiful and ugly. Somehow, this Way allows us to experience the Wholeness that is each and all, all along ... and to avoid perspectives and behavior that cause us to see and make this world, our lives, as broken into shattered pieces. It is a Wholeness often hidden in the divisions and frictions of the ugly mind, yet never truly hidden to a Buddha's Eye.

    ................ WHOLENESS

TODAY'S TALK (ABOUT 20 MINUTES) WAS PART OF OUR MONTHLY ZAZENKAI, AND IS FOLLOWED BY A SHORT PERIOD OF ZAZEN and KINHIN

    Hello Jundo,
Thanks for wholeness, which is so simple in the end but so hard every days, when all the samsara seems attacking us by disorder and egomania.
    Kosen.

    Hello!

I don't mean to be a pain in the butt, but are the videos hosted anywhere else? Whoever rented my place before me got our IP permanently banned from justin.tv and I can't seem to be able to proxy my way around that.

This talk on wholeness comes very handy as I try to make sense of all these practices, jukai, rakusu, ango, zazen together, as well as a good way to link them to daily life.

    Thank you so much Jundo

    Hi there,

I don't know about the videos themselves, but Shawn is awesome enough to convert Jundo and Taigu's talks into Podcast format, so if nothing else hopefully you can reach those via iTunes (search Treeleaf) or from the Podbean website:

    Hope it helps!

Thanks very much Jundo for this talk.

I always find that when I let things "Just be" I feel a sense of relief at the fact the "I" does not need to get involved. The more I let things be in life, the more things just seem to naturally do their thing.

with regards to wholeness, I do and I don't understand the concept. Is it as if nothing really exsisits outside ourselves and once we bring it all together as a whole in ZA Zen it has always been whole?

I will fall back on the classic Zen teacher cop-out for a question like that: Just sit some more. Don't try to analyze it too much, especially the "nothing exists outside ourself" part.

    Thanks jundo,

I also felt the need to listen to the talk again. I listened more carefully instead of letting it just wash over and it well...... Just washed over me but in a more careful way!
