    Taigu,
Thank you for your teachings. And thank you for your dedication to the Okesa. It is through such efforts that the Okesa has not passed from this earth.

    Taigu Sensei,

Thank you for wrapping us all into your Kesa so that we may learn what it is to feel its warmth, and to wish to create that for ourselves and others.

Resistance is futile. OKesa is the whole world.

Thank so much for the teaching, Taigu

This is just fantastic! I laughed out loud when (at 7:00 or so) you started whining "Why? Why? Why?" That voice is so familiar -- as if you were reading lines written by my deluded self!

I am grateful for your "blunt, pushy, warm" style, Taigu! Gassho!

    Taigu,

Thank you for this teaching. I just happened to finish the first corner of my kesa the other day, so I now only have, oh, 199 corners to go or so before I drop dead.

Consider me broken open and using sewing as my practice, or at least one aspect of my practice, for the rest of my days.

    On to corner 2!

    Gassho,
    Dosho

    Thank you, Taigu-san.

I am looking forward to starting up my kesa. I am terrible at sewing, but willing to give it a shot!

Jundo mentioned that 'we have to be in the world but not of the world'. Taigu has said we are wrapped in the okesa but blown wide open.
Sounds like the place to be. I look forward to this practice.
Thank you Taigu for this opportunity.

    Hello Taigu, friends,

I finally had the opportunity to watch this late last night, and I wanted to say thank you. I'm getting ever closer to putting that last stitch in place, and can testify to the power of the practice (though I don't claim to know a thing about it).

Thank you for your effort and teachings.

    Thank you Taigu Sensei.
Originally I wasn't going to watch this because I don't see myself sewing Okesa anytime in the near future. I'm glad I changed my mind and decided to watch anyway because it was a wonderful teaching! I shall follow this series to deepen my understanding.

    Hi Dosho,
I have a question which may answer your question.
I posted this recently on another thread:
    Hi All,
I have a question on the wearing of Okesa. From what I've understood it is only permissible for ordained priests to wear them. Is this so? I know that every place has their own "rules and regulations". What is Treeleaf's stance on who, how, and when someone is permitted to make and or wear one?
I posted the question above partly because of this new series by Taigu. I didn't see myself sewing one, but only because I didn't(still not sure) if non priests can even wear them?
If you could shed some light on my question I would appreciate it very much

    Gassho,
    John

I know this is stupid, but I love your laugh Taigu sensei. It's infectious.

Anyway, thank you and Jundo sensei for sharing this practice with us. It is wonderful; the detail in the document and video instructions is just outstanding. I would have been lost without them.

The key thing that resonated with me is the resistance. When you said that, I thought "oh yeah!". And I'm sure everyone here that's sewed or is sewing was saying the same thing.

But that practice of sewing the Rakusu has changed my perspective on practice and on my life.

It's easy to be an armchair buddhist, but when you have to practice and actually do your practice, that is where the rubber meets the road.

Resistance, no resistance, who cares? That's what this practice taught me. Just do it. Just sit. Don't worry so much. Just pay attention and do your best. It's not always easy, but then it's like well who cares?

This is just a beautiful practice and I'm so thankful that you have chosen to make this an essential part of Treeleaf.

This may be an online sangha, but these practices unite us. We have shared in this and continue to share in this practice. It is beautiful.

Thanks for your perspective Risho. It's great to hear all of these insights from the people who have been through the sewing practice!
