    Interesting to hear another take on the English chanting. I've been trying to memorize the Japanese phonetic pronunciation lately. Oddly, I think that a non-understanding chant can be more body-mind melding than one in a native language, where we may get too wrapped up in the words themselves.

    I agree, but inversely, I find the English chanting can take away the "mystique," that sometimes makes one think they are "Zennier/ Yogi-er than thou." I find that, at least, it is important to understand what one is chanting about...

    But at the same time, I guess all sound is just vibration anyway, connected to a thought...

    ...or no-thought

    Yes, the vibration resonates through you as you chant.. but it is nice to know what it means!
