Thread: just wanted to say

    just wanted to say

what is more important...the path or the people who travel it?

the buddha who was or the people who are?

i think we mistake the big picture for a single photograph

and yet, in a single photograph, the big picture expresses itself

we don't know who we are

    or how we got here

    or where we are going

    we only know

    that we are afraid sometimes

    happy and sad sometimes

    good and bad sometimes

    just like gautama buddha

    the man who ran away

    to find himself

    and in the end

    said

    be a light unto yourself

    what a fake

Sometimes we "just want to say something" and
touch other other peoples heart, change so much
more than more than with some intellectual
    explanations.

    What do you mean here?

    Gassho,

    Risho

Edit: I just re-read this, and it sounds like I'm coming off as a hardass, but I'm asking in all sincerity.

    Hi Risho.

To be perfectly honest, I'm not sure. I just felt inspired and followed it where it went. When I finished it I thought, oh cool. At the end of his life Buddha realized that us folks still don't get it. His disciples kinda hoped he would put everything in a nice little package and say, ok, now do this and you'll get enlightened. But he didn't. He did what he had to do to find what he had to find. Then at the end of his journey he more or less said, now do the same...find your own way. "What a fake" refers to our conceptualization of who we think Buddha is, compared to the reality of the situation. I have to keep tearing down my ideas of how I thing Reality should be. Only then can I say that I am awake. But really, I just went on inspiration. Glad so many people found something they liked in the mess.

hahahah, I've never thought of it like that. On one hand, Buddha says be a light upon yourself, and on the other he's saying here's my path to follow.

    Thanks Greg!
