    Heart Sutra

    Hiya all,

Is there a link where I can find The Heart Sutra in Japanese? I tried doing a search at top right but no joy, and it would be nice to be able to follow it on Saturday.

And this is how it should sound like:

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ccy708RQ1DA&feature=related[/video]] ... re=related

The heart sutra is from your toe to your skull and beyond a living scroll of flesh-sound-beat.
    Neither English nor exotic.

    As you like it

    Hiya,
Thanks Luis, I'm sure that will do very nicely. And thanks Taigu for the link, I don't know if it is intuitive or maybe I remember hearing it, but that is how I was reading in my brain.

    Excellent

    Thank you both

    Re: Heart Sutra

OH ... BUT THAT WAS A MISPRINT .... AND WAS TO SAY "HEART SUTRA IN ENGLISH"

This week's Heart Sutra will be in English ... and is found in our Chant Book, as always ...

    viewtopic.php?p=40410#p40410

    I apologize for the confusion!

Can you explain this a little, Taigu?

    Thank you.

Thank you Jundo, did I pass your little test to see if I was taking notice? I have it in English but it is still nice to be able to study it in Japanese, I think.
Looking forward to tomorrow, (hope the knees hold out).

    Re: Heart Sutra

Thank you for the translations! And Taigu Sensei thank you for that comment! It's easy for me to space out sometimes when reciting it, but then sometimes I am there in it. At first it was odd for me, but when you are just chanting the sutra, fully chanting it, it's very, very beautiful

I don't know any Japanese, so my comments come from a completely ignorant perspective, but I just love the sound of the language. And the Heart Sutra is so much more condensed than when it is recited in English.

    Hiya,
thank you so much for the links ShinMeiDokuJoh. As a part time student of calligraphy found the first one particularly fascinating, I look forward to giving it a try one day when I am a bit more confident.
Again, many many thanks and deep Gassho

    Hello Nige,
thanks a lot for the link to the film, I found it most engrossing.
What started out as Jundo's little typo is turning into an interesting little study for me. Luckily, the Heart Sutra has always been my favourite. Again thanks

    Re: Heart Sutra

Joe, just a very simple piece of advice: if you study the heart sutra in old Japanese, please, get the rhythm right. Don't iron it. Make it bumpy and rocky. So it is always good to listen to the stuff sang by guys and join in,sing along. Until it is part of your cells.
    That's how I learned it.
