Sharing Helpful and Insightful Tips (was The Tea Party)

    Hi folks
For anyone who is interested and able, to Fugen, Hans and I are going to make a commitment to sit every (at least one of us!)Sunday @ 3pm (New York) or 9pm (Tibro, Sweden/Cologne, Germany), 4pm (Fredericton New Brunswick) to share a cup a tea. Please feel free to join in.

We will post below where and how we will be meeting a head of time in this thread as we explore software that will meet our needs.
Here are a couple of ways to meet up (again we will let everyone know ahead of time which we are using)

    Only a couple of requirements:
One: please use headphones to prevent echo! (feedbackbackbackbackbakcwhat?what wha...Ha ah aha)
Two: please Say "hey this is [yournamehere]", and then speak freely (to prevent confusion and promote getting better acquainted )

Here are a couple of ways we will be meeting (Get skype if you would, please and PM Fugen with your skype name)

    Skype

http://www.videoconference.com/ - We will make the room a head of time and post the url to join (one limit, it hold only 6 @ a time so if we have more folks than that we will move back to voice chat via skype.

    Hi all,

Just a reminder that I'll be subbing for Fugen at the Tea Party today (man, these are big shoes!) which will commence in about a couple hours (3pm EDT). If you want to join in but aren't among those in my Skype list, please send me a PM so we can connect.

Hope you can stop by, whether it's for 5 minutes or an hour...we'd love to hear you!

Thank you Michael! And I shall again be filling those shoes, which still seem big but not quite so, tomorrow as Fugen is needed elsewhere. So, again, if anyone wants to join the tea party and are not on my Skype list, please PM your info to me so you can join in the fun (although the beginning is REALLY serious)!

Hope some folks can make the time to join us, for 5 minutes, 60 minutes, whatever...all are welcome.

... the universe always in beta.... wow.... that blew my mind man.....

Timo and Dosho, I am afraid that I am sufficiently incompetent that I can account for both scenarios.... when I run Firefox I cannot enter hangouts due to plug-in problems. In these instances I have been running Safari and can enter hangouts no problem. The second issue I have been having is just seeing events and hangouts.... they don't show up often in my activity stream. When I have some time I will try to figure it out....

    Deep bows

    Ade,

The tea party is at 3pm my time (New York) and 9pm Sweden time, so I believe that would make it 8pm your time. Please correct me if I'm wrong Fugen!

As for being shy, I can relate. The first two times I was on the call I disconnected without saying anything! But I kept coming back and found a great group of people to talk with about practice and daily life (not two BTW).

    Please come and join us!

Did you have problems with the installation/update of the Google Hangout plugin?
If yes, just let me know - a few weeks ago I had problems to join a Hangout sit (it had worked without any problems in the past). Took me some hours to solve it, maybe I can help you.

    Hi Dosho,

In my case Google+ wanted to have the Hangout plugin re-installed (although it used to work before) all of a sudden, but even after the update it didn't work.
I found information on the internet that several people had this issue after those infamous Google changes...
Only deleting the plugin manually, using a registry cleaner, and a new manual installation (i.e. not within the browser) of the plugin helped.

Google set a typical example of disimproving with its changes in my opinion...

    Hi.

i will try that, in my case i got out and reentered it, and suddenly it worked and then not again, but talking with another one One on one, it worked perfectly.

also, not only was my camera off, i couldnt see the others, and according to g+ it could have been my up/download on the computer, which might be so, but in the end we're aware of the issues, and we'll see what they do about them...

    Hi Guys,

Is this something new that happened since this past Saturday? The reason is that the system worked fine then, but I want to make sure it is not something that has arisen since that I should resolve before next week.

Life and Death is just an illusion ... but software glitches are real.

By the way, ever consider that the whole universe is just software perpetually in "Beta" as the cosmic engineers mess with it at "Godle"? Like the Black Death in the Middle Ages was just a copying error?

Can't tell, I'm afraid. Last time I sat online with Google+ was before Saturday - did not have any problems (any more) at that time.

    Hi all,

The glitch Timo described is something that has been happening intermittently for months to some people, myself included. I really think it's just one of those things we have to live with and is a good reminder that the world cannot be shaped as we would like it. Perhaps Jundo is right that the Universe is always in Beta...and we're just a bobble sitting on a software engineer's desk somewhere.

Just an FYI ... Since the Google upgrade everything has worked fine on my end, so not sure what is happening there. Hope you can figure it out.

But that too is the wonderful teaching that technology gives us accepting things as they are ... Welcome to the Dork Zone.

    Hey Yugen,

Sounds like you are running a Mac ... Me as well. I find that Chrome runs much better then Firefox. I find Firefox very buggy on Mac OS. Give Chrome a try.

Yeah man, like then maybe the Big Bang was like an operating system install.** Hope the guys at Godgle don't hit reinstall anytime soon, man. (Jundo, spoken from his dorm room). Heck, maybe we are all just characters in some future version of "SimCity" being played by a 12 year old!

Anyway, when we run into these little "non-problems" and "re-conveniences", it is best perhaps to recall what Zen students in 13th Century Japan or China had to deal with ... like the REAL BLACK PLAGUE! And no electricity at all. Heck, no real dentist or doctors (Dogen died at age 50 from something likely quite treatable now) or internet to complain about the lack of dentists etc.

    Good to keep perspective.

** Actually kinda half really believe this one if pressed.
