There is a great book titled Passion Painting (I think, can't find my copy right now) and it is all about putting aside your critical mind and just painting as you feel. As a kid, art was one of my favorite subjects in school. Unfortunately, according to the standards by which art was judged, I was not very good at it . I lost the joy of creating art because I internalized that criticism: "If my drawing and painting isn't good then why bother" is how the delusion works. The Passion Painting book helped me to realize that creating art is done for art's sake, and that good/bad judgments have no place in that creation moment. Thus enlightened, a couple years ago I picked up paintbrushes and pencils again to
PLAY . Am I any better now that I am free of the delusion of good/bad judgment? I don't think so, but more importantly, I don't care!
PS: Passion Painting is not the title. At least it's not showing up on Amazon that way. And I still can't find my copy, which is very puzzling. I think it was by a French author, maybe two authors. Sorry, not much help if you want to follow up. There's other similar books out there, though.
