. . . at least for those in our Sangha who live in the United States. Monday, January 19th is a day folk in the US are being encouraged to participate in a national day of service. It is scheduled to coincide with the Martin Luther King, Jr. holiday - it is also the day before President-Elect Barack Obama takes office. I was able to follow this link, enter my zip code and find an entire list of opportunities to serve (food drives, blood drives, clothing drives, beach clean -ups, etc.) For those who work on the holiday, I found events that are also happening this weekend (what better way to celebrate the Sangha's first Jukai?).
