    standing kinhin?

    Hi.

I heard/read somewhere about some sort of "standing kinhin", where you stand up and sort of rock from side to side in pace with your breathing.
    anyone heard of that?

on a sidenote, it struck me tonight that that is what i have been doing to put my son to sleep (he's having his first teeth...)

May the force be with you

My sympathies with you and yours, mine is just getting his first tooth at 11 months, a longtime coming, and several periods of thinking it is coming

As for standing kinhin, I don't now but don't see why not?

    Re: standing kinhin?

Teeth are all done here but will begin again soon enough, I stood in place and swung left and right very gently with breath (heh thinking of it now makes me sleepy) and some nights that was all the mediation (kinhin or sitting included) i got or needed Sorry thats not much help

Gassho and peace be with all of you

    Re: standing kinhin?

    Hi,

I do not know the specific practice and it is not our tradition, but I do not see why one cannot 'Kinhin' by merely rocking slowly side to side. Sometimes, when walking Kinhin, I move so little with each step, that it is almost that. After all, we are going no where.

Any swaying moving can be hypnotic. I am sure you have seen how Hasidic Jews pray.
