    The mirror

The first mirrors date to about 6000BC made from polished volcanic glass. The question is: Did everyone in a household or tribe use them at that time? Before the mirror was discovered, how did we view ourselves? Perchance someone caught sight in a stream, lake or bucket. If we take away the mirror how can we tell what we look like? What is our face then?

Today we have many ways of taking pictures, setting up avatars, scanning, mimicking, pulling, exfoliating, cutting, tucking, and stretching. Believing that somehow what we see is who and what we are. Can the eyes see the eyes? Can they see the nose? Cheek? Chin?

They are more than just a visual representation and an idea. Where does the nose start and the ear begin?

Where does the hair start and the Birds in the sky begin?

    Hi Will,

You would be an AWFUL plastic surgeon.

PS- I have stumbled across the writings of Douglas Harding from time to time. A very creative teacher. More of the Vedantic "Just Be One with the Divine Essence" flavor than the "Just Be" taste I prefer, but that is just a flavor.

Not necessarily. I just wouldn't choose that profession.

Thank you for posting the link. I'll have a look.

    Nice part from that article:

The whole of my life and what I have to share with people is, Come back from identifying with the guy in the mirror, who is very important but is there. Come back from him there to here, to his Origin, which is exactly where you are.
