Thread: Visual Art

1. #1

Visual Art

As a companion piece to the poetry topic, I thought it would be nice if people could post any visual art they had created (or created by others that they especially liked) related to Buddhism.

I'll be glad to start, just as soon as I figure out how to compress the file so it fits here. I probably should have thought of that first, but I was being spontaneous

Re: Visual Art

Alan, you can use http://www.imageshack.us/ as a substitute.

It can resize the image as well.

Re: Visual Art

OK, I've resized it, but the extension (jpeg) is not allowed. What is allowed? The FAQ on posting images is not particularly as full of information as I would have liked.

Re: Visual Art

I just tested it at imageshack and it works with .jpeg. It will convert it to .jpg.

Technical assistance required....
I have resized my image to fit within the page here, I have also changed my image from jpeg to jpg, but when i try to upload it tells me that it can't determine its size and won't allow it. Hmm....

Re: Visual Art

Oh Alan. ok. I'll break it down for you step by step:

1.Go to the imageshack link

2. Upload your image (use the resize option if you need)

3. When it's finished uploading, copy the directlink at the bottom of the page.

4. In your post type

That's it.

it took me months after I started this thread, but I finally got it figured out how to upload an image correctly. I trust you will find that, in comparison to the others, that it was not worth your wait, lol. Cheers to chicanobuddhista and photobucket.com

Re: Visual Art

Hello Alan,

Well done for getting your picture posted.
I love the bright colours in this one. Sometimes Zen Buddhist art can be a little drab and it's good to see some vibrancy (if that' s the right word :? ).

Here is a Skylark I am working on at the moment.
Apologies for the bad photo.

I just need to sort out a bit of the ground and should be there. Well maybe the odd tweak

Here’s an image that I created from a “Monkey King” mask. Long story why I am interested in the Monkey King, but the story the legend does have a connection to Buddhism and so thought I would post.

Re: Visual Art

Hello Will,

I have taken a few close up shots here (probably too big and boring to show on the forum).

I drew the picture with five pencils 4B 2B HB 2H 4H and a putty rubber(eraser). The bird is about 9cm 3.5in in length.

Dirk,

Is there a specific image of a crow you had in mind? A Carrion Crow? They are one of my favourite birds, I like Ted Hughes book poems "Crow " too.

All the best,

Philip

Re: Visual Art

A Carrion Crow is perfect no particular image in mind i was just saying it like IF you had a pic drawn or were so inclined no pressure ops:

I like crows particualarly, I think because they outsmarted me (easy task i know ) and trained me to feed them etc. One fellow here says in a very funny voice "hello!" in order to snag an extra snack.

Any who I Just was really floored by your nice sketches
