Thread: A Daily Reminder

    A Daily Reminder

    Just a thought.

The practice of Zazen seems to me to be like a reminder: you sit down to remember what you'd forgotten; remember that there's no need to worry - life faced straight on will be just fine.
I guess that's why it doesn't really matter how long your Zazen is, as long it's a daily reminder.

    Just a 'ponsy' thought.

50 years of Zazen is 50 years of Buddha.

I wouldn't just say that Zazen is only a reminder.

Yes. But I'll just add : there's a difference between just thinking it and actually knowing or experiencing it. Not really facing it straight on, but knowing that life is life.

    Yeah, of course.
We've all had experiences of feeling more at peace with our surroundings and feeling that life is just life. So for me Zazen is a process of remembering this. So i can start afresh each time I sit. And the more I sit the more familiar it becomes...
anyway, yeh, I agree, thinking it is not the same as knowing it.
But I do know it's uncommonly scorching here in London :P
