The other one's just getting too long.

    After Basho's famous frog haiku

    after basho's frog haiku
    the garden pond
    speaks more volume

    after basho's frog haiku
    every splash at the pond
eddies to the centre of my heart

    after basho's frog haiku
    each sight of the amphibian
    the echo of a splash

    Are you looking for me?
I am in the next seat.
    My shoulder is against yours.
You will not find me in stupas, not in Indian shrine rooms,
nor in synagogues, nor in cathedrals:
not in masses, nor kirtans, not in legs winding around your own neck,
nor in eating nothing but vegetables.
When you really look for me, you will see me instantly
—you will find me in the tiniest house of time.
Kabir says: Student, tell me, what is God?
    --the breath inside the breath.

This poem was written by Kabir - a Muslim and Hindu mystic from the 13th Century. A talk by Dean Sluyter on the InterDependence podcast brought this to my attention, even though I later discovered this poem in a book on my bookshelf: The Enlightened Heart (edited by Stephen Mitchell).

Dean Sluyter elaborates on the phrase "you will find me in the tiniest house of time": How long is a moment? It has no duration. The future is huge. The past is huge. But it is never the past and it is never the future. The present is infinitely tiny but it is always the present. So pay attention to what is happening right now.

    Entering

To be locked outside the image
    Is to lose the legends
    Resonant in the air
When the bells have stopped ringing.
If water soaks into the stone
And sunlight is permitted to caress
    The worm and the root
And the feather lodged in the bird's flesh
    Contributes to its flight

    It is right
To enter the petal and the flame
    Live in the singing throat
    Mention a buried name
And learn the justice of the skeleton.

    Entering,
I know that God is growth
    In this garden of death.
I will always love the strangenesss
    And never be a stranger
    In that thought
As I parry the shrivelling demons
    And do my failing best
    To rest
    Among the flowing, growing forms
    That open to my will,
    Give access to their mercy
    And share their skill.

    Samurai Song

When I had no roof I made
Audacity my roof. When I had
    No supper my eyes dined.

When I had no eyes I listened.
When I had no ears I thought.
When I had no thought I waited.

When I had no father I made
Care my father. When I had
    No mother I embraced order.

When I had no friend I made
Quiet my friend. When I had no
    Enemy I opposed my body.

When I had no temple I made
My voice my temple. I have
No priest, my tongue is my choir.

When I have no means fortune
Is my means. When I have
Nothing, death will be my fortune.

    Need is my tactic, detachment
Is my strategy. When I had
No lover I courted my sleep.

From Spring, Summer, Winter, Autumn......and Spring (a cool movie)

From the final scene, those who haven't seen the entire movie won't get the whole picture, it's cool nonetheless.
Not sure of the poems meaning, but I've looked at from the movie's pov. Not to metion it's an enoyable korean folk song.

    The small Buddhist temples
    Surround the Great Uk-Jun temple

At the temple of the Great Bear
    She prays for the son
she can never have in this life
For 100 days she prays for a son.

    Oh, green mountain!
There was someone who was born alone
    very far from the village.

He suffers many difficulties in life.
And has no interest in anything
    He leaves the secular world
And lives according to Buddhis scripture
    wandering from place to place.

The Buddhist world is different to the secular one
His mind becomes clearer and clearer
He watches the sunset with no worries
    He recalls old memories
And they do not trouble him
    Our human eyes
    see only sadness and misery.

    Let me climb over
    the A-Ri-Rang Peak
OVer the high and dangerous mountains
And through the many thorny bushes
    Let me get past them
And follow the stream throught the valley
I have come through all of the obstacles alone
I have come all this way
    To see the truth
But still I don't see it.

    she brings her hands together
    to pray for a child.

    And prays sincerely.

    No need to worry.
    It's all ok.
    This life is speaking,
    What does it say?

    When life is dropped,
    And struggle aside.
    Things weeded out;
    Lost in life's tide.

We come back to this moment,
    When we learn how.
    Don't worry. OK.
    Just, be, here, now.

    This life is calling.
    What does it say?
    Don't listen. Hear it.
    And then you can play.

    Let things be.
    I know it sounds hard.
    But don't fool yourself.
    There's nothing to guard.

    Those Zen teachers,
    Are for the birds.
    Out the window.
    Haven't you heard?

    Where is the window?
    On the left we think,
    It cannot be found,
    There is no link.

    Birdshit on pavement.
    Cool spring day.
    Scent on the wind.
    This, and that way.

    Put it down,
    And then let it be.
    Sit on your butt,
    Like a big ol' tree.

    These Zen teachers,
    Are in the air.
    Beside the trees.
    And in your hair.

    On a scent,
    In a buzzzzzzzz.
    When paying your rent.
    Because that's what they doezzzzzz

Ghosts Were Watching Them Ghost Movies

Late evening in the building across the road
Behind translucent sheers or through the blinds
The bluish, ever changing lights of TV screens

Titillating, whirling, receding for an instant
Only to return with fury and vanish again and again.

The dialogues and the thunder of the explosions
    Stay within the walls, however.

Not a drop of fiction spills on the street.

Dawn brings the birds with their brand of silence
And the Sun appears on every window pane.

    Wild Geese
    by Mary Oliver

You do not have to be good.
You do not have to walk on your knees
for a hundred miles through the desert repenting.
You only have to let the soft animal of your body
    love what it loves.
Tell me about despair, yours, and I will tell you mine.
    Meanwhile the world goes on.
Meanwhile the sun and the clear pebbles of the rain
    are moving across the landscapes,
over the prairies and the deep trees,
    the mountains and the rivers.
Meanwhile the wild geese, high in the clean blue air,
    are heading home again.
Whoever you are, no matter how lonely,
the world offers itself to your imagination,
calls to you like the wild geese, harsh and exciting —
over and over announcing your place
    in the family of things.

    In the dark night,
    seeing the empty sky,
It's empty but it's pervading anywhere.
Accompanied by a cup of tea in my hand,

Drinking the tea, I just drink the universe.

    you were still there

    so i did it again

    but the next morning

    you were still there

    Yes
    It could happen any time,
    tornado,
    earthquake, Armageddon. It
    could happen.
    Or sunshine, love,
    salvation.

    It could, you know. That's
    why we wake
    and look out - no
    guarantees
    in this life.

    But some bonuses, like
    morning,
    like right now, like noon,
    like evening.

    Regarding:

    Is the response:

    I would jump in
And let Basho hear the splash.

    ~Noble Mirror~

    Where is the noble mirror...
    It's bright and eternal.

Look for it, you will lose it.
Ignore it, you won't see the truth.
Talk about it, you'll be lost.

    It's not object and reflection,
But the object is just the reflection.
It's not inside or out side,
But it's just inside and outside.
It's no side, and include all side.

When the two emerge to one,
the one will manifest to ten direction.

    All Buddhas from ten direction.
    Sound is just the sound,
    light is just the light.

When you hear the sound of no sound,
Seeing the light within the darkness.
The Buddha is just in your very eyes.
    Just in your very mind.
    Watch Out...!!!

    Have we forgotten,
    the taste of snow?

    The cool smell?
    The fascination,
    of cold breath?

    Have we forgotten: cool beverage,
    On a hot summers day?

    Watching the grass move,
    And the trees wave?
    Where the sleeve,
    Meets the arm?

    The smell of old wood,
    Painted red,
    Peeling and Grey.

Have we forgotten to wake up,
    And go to sleep?

    A warm bed?
    Silent crickets?

The tap of a branch on the window?

    A conversation,
    On the pillow.

    Where did it go?

    Where

    does

    it

    come
    from?

    How can it be forgotten?
    How can it be lost?

    This moment.
    This breath.
    This taste,
    Touch.
    Smell.
    Color.
    and sound.

    Infinite in variety.

    Yet,

    all One.

Do not stand at my grave and weep.
I am not there, I do not sleep.
I am a thousand winds that blow,
I am the diamond glints on snow.
I am the sunlight on ripened grain,
I am the gentle autumn's rain.
When you awaken in the morning's hush,
I am the swift uplifting rush
of quiet birds in circled flight.
I am the stars that shine at night.
Do not stand at my grave and cry,
    I am not there, I did not die . . .

Our cups of coffee. Birds green trees
In the blue shade, the sun gambols from one wall
    To another like a gazelle
The water in the clouds has the unlimited shape of what is left to us
Of the sky. And other things of suspended memories
Reveal that this morning is powerful and splendid,
And that we are the guests of eternity.

    ?

A little of this absolute and blue infinity
    Would be enough
To lighten the burden of these times

    Experts all around!
    Experts all around!
    I whisper to the ground.
    Experts all around.

    Dog!
    On his back.
    Waits for a belly rub.
    Birds!
    Past the window,
With not one thing to snub.

    Except, perhaps a foe,
Who might just eat the young.
    Perhaps a loud cry,
That is wailed instead of sung.

    Experts all around!
