Wow. Thank you for sharing, although I will likely have to wait for the DVD.

Also I enjoyed the Chapulin colorado reference, I grew up with that too.

If you've not yet seen this, it's recently begun airing on public television in the states. Here's a link for air dates/times:

    http://www.dhammabrothers.com/TVShowtimes.htm

It might be incomplete, so "check your local listings"

I just caught it on tv the other night - 2 thumbs up...

On a personal note, after our Buddhist community in the RGV was contacted by prisoners, we are starting to get a mediation group going with their input in a month or two. Three of us have finished the state paperwork, now we need our volunteer training and is up and running.

That is great! Could you keep us posted on how things are going?

    Thanks,

It is a fabulous documentary. In a "prison within a prison" referring to the 10 day "lock-in" of silence and Vipassana meditation, the transformation that the participating inmates underwent was amazing, often times tearful. I highly recommend it.

My local PBS station was listed on the site, but when I checked it didn't match what was being broadcast. Anybody else have trouble finding it?

    Re: The Dhamma Brothers

    Hi everyone!
It is a wonderful documentary! The involvement of the teachers, personal stories of each inmates being told when you feel they are changing... perhaps a bit too dramatic for me!
But it's a wonderful course to be given in prisons and out of prisons of course!

I've been doing two 10day courses in the tradition of SN Goenka (the same one as in the movie) and it was just great!
Of course, it is a bit strange to wake up at 4h in the morning or not eating during the afternoon... but it is a great place to practice "anapanasati" and vipassana in an environment dedicated to a serious practice and for me it has helped my practice of zazen ... I've seen it like a kind of preparation, like a course to sharpen my attention and that profit my zazen ...

Wow... Sorry folks... I'm out of the subject again!

    Gassho to everyone,
    Luis/Jinyu

I find it interesting that in the film, some people were so frightened by this simple meditation practice that they actually blocked the inmates from practice!

Such insecurity! Oh, but how I wish I were so secure in my beliefs that I would not be offended by anything!
