    Introduction

Dear members of the Tree Leaf Forum:

I have just joined the forum, and Jundo has invited me to introduce myself.

I’m a writer, a retired English professor, and a longtime practitioner of Vipassana and Zen. Until my retirement last year, I taught literature, writing, and classical guitar at Alfred University here in western New York. My areas of concentration were modern poetry and Irish literature. I continue to teach an honors course in Buddhist meditation and to lead the Falling Leaf Sangha, a lay sitting group for students and the community. You can find information about our sangha at http://fallingleafsangha.blogspot.com/ If you are ever in our area, please feel welcome to join us.

    Gassho,

    Ben Howard

    Hi Ben,

Not ten minutes after I signed you onto the Forum, I happened to open a neglected copy of Shambala Sun magazine sitting on my desk ... and there is an article by you, an essay you wrote about your retirement. Small (Buddhist) world!

Any chance you can post it here, for those who do not have the magazine?

    Jundo,

I think my essay "Not Yet" might be protected by copyright. I'll have to check into that. However, those who listened to your talk on right livelihood might be interested in my poem by that name, which can be found at http://unsplendid.com. I wrote the poem on the occasion of my retirement.

    Gassho,
    Ben

Hi Ben, Welcome to TreeLeaf. You sure have an interesting background. I used to play classical guitar until my left hand got too weak to hold the barres. I once saw a concert given by the legendary Andres Segovia at Sydney Town Hall way back in the early sixties,
