    The Zen Poems of Ryōkan

Dear all, especially the poetry lovers among us

The Zen Poems of Ryōkan by Nobuyuki Yuasa is being republished on 1 July this year! There were previously only a few copies available that sold for upwards of £100 second hand so this is very good news for everyone who loves the poems of the great fool.

The book contains 215 of his chinese poems and 413 of his japanese poems. Also a biography of the man himself.

The valley stream's rippling is indeed the eloquent tongue of the Buddha.
The mountains contour is not other than the body of the Buddha.
With the coming of night, I heard the eighty-four thousand songs,
But with the rising of the sun, how am I ever to offer them to you?

-- one of Nobuyuki Yuasa's translations of Ryōkan in 'Kakurenbo' by Eido Frances Carney

Thank you Andy. Hopefully it has some jewels that other Ryokan volumes don't.
