    December 15th, 2012 Treeleaf Weekly Zazenkai

    Hello All,

    Please 'sit-a-long' with our weekly FRIDAY/SATURDAY 'LIVE FROM TREELEAF' 90 minute ZAZENKAI, netcast LIVE from 9am Japan time Saturday morning (that is New York 7pm, Los Angeles 4pm (Friday night), London midnight and Paris 1am (early Saturday morning)

    ... and to be visible at the following link during those times and any time thereafter ...

    As you can see, our Zazenkai consists of chanting the 'Heart Sutra' in English (the words are at the link below), some full floor prostrations in sets of three (please follow along with me ... or a simple Gassho can be substituted if you wish), followed by our Dedication, Zazen twice for about 30 minutes each, with 10 minutes of Kinhin in between, and we end the sitting with 'The Verse of Atonement' and 'The Four Vows'.

    Hello everyone,
    if all goes well, I will sit on Google+ exactly 7 hours 30 minutes after the official sit and stream the original sit into the hangout from a second computer,so if you cant do it live and want to sit the recording with others (thats currently just me), please be there at 7:30 AM GMT.

    I totally agree with you.
    Actually, it depends on how we approach it - a Buddha statue can be both something holy and something ordinary. The same holds true for my vacuum cleaner or any dust particle it removes.
    While these don't have a commonly accepted religious meaning I can give them the meaning when I approach them in a certain manner.

    It is like TNH's Gatha I use when I wash the dishes:
    Washing the dishes
    is like bathing a baby Buddha.
    The profane is the sacred.
    Everyday mind is Buddha's mind.

    When Jundo put up the vacuum cleaner - I heard myself saying "no way" and then I burst into a laughter.
    While I spontaneously bow to random things in my environment after sitting it was very unusual seeing Jundo doing it during Zazenkai.
    (I am glad he didn't burn the Buddha statue...)

    Thanks for putting this into practice, Jundo, and thanks to all who sat and will be sitting!
