    Treeleaf T-Shirts: Order Now!

We've finally got most of the bugs worked out of our Treeleaf T-shirt Charitable Fundraiser and it's now time to place your order. Five dollars from every shirt sold will go to a charity that will be decided by Treeleaf. T-Shirt sale extended until 12/4! Get those orders in today!

Back in July we decided on Kyonin's "All Of Life Is Our Temple" design represented below.

    black-print-v2.jpgtreeleaf-t-shirts-v4.jpg
    Cost:
Here's how the cost per shirt looks:
    (Shirt + $5 donation + shipping = final cost)
    11 + 5 + 5 =$21 (Domestic within the US)
    11 + 5 + 9 =$25 (All other destinations)
Treeleaf is NOT making any profit on this sale. All proceeds will give donated to charity.

If you need an XXL (+$1) or XXXL (+$2) please add on the appropriate amount. This should not effect the shipping cost.

    Example order:
For 2 XXL shirts shipped to an address within the US
    21+1+21+1= $44
    Payment:
We are using PayPal to handle the financial transactions.

Step 1: To send money, you will need a Paypal account - https://www.paypal.com/webapps/mpp/make-online-payments Please sign up, it's free and safe.

Step 2: Paypal will ask who you want to send money to, please send it to: yugenmutsu@gmail.com Please make certain you are sending money in US Dollars.

Step 3: You will also need to PM me (Christhatischris) your order, so I know what you've ordered.

    Shirt Details:
All t-shirts will be made with Port & Company, All-American T-Shirts -100% made in the USA. From the cotton to the fabric manufacturing to the finished tee.

Just to emphasize ... no money raised by this will come to Treeleaf ...

Here, by the way, is our policy on donations here at Treeleaf Sangha ...

    ================================================== ==========

THIS IS A VERY GOOD TIME TO REMIND FOLKS THAT PARTICIPATION IN TREELEAF SANGHA IS FREEING ... BUT NOT FREE, AND COMES WITH A VERY STEEP PRICE. FOR THOSE WITH THE TIME AND FINANCIAL RESOURCES (EVEN A POOR MAN CAN GIVE A BROKEN COOKING POT) WE HAVE TO GET OUT AND ROLL UP OUR SLEEVES, GIVE UNTIL IT HURTS A BIT. Please review the following on Samu and Dana at Treeleaf

I do not generally accept any "Dana" financial contributions for Treeleaf, as we have sufficient resources for what we are doing. However, I do ask (strongly) people to make financial donations in lieu to charities that help folks, e.g., feeding the poor, finding a cure for a disease. In fact, it is truly a part of Practice, one of the great Virtues of a Bodhisattva.

What, you thought Treeleaf was a free service? It is a "freeing" service, but not free.

The same with "Samu" (daily work practice) ...

Samu is vital to Practice. In fact, Samu --IS-- "working Zazen"!

I have not been too insistent on people doing "Samu" work practice at Treeleaf, but I think I should crack the whip a little from time to time. If someone will do community volunteer work, preferably, it should be hands on actually helping people in need like the sick or elderly or kids in need (not just folding envelopes) However, for those already loaded with work and family obligations, an intentional commitment to non-do some of those activities is "Samu" practice. That is fine (nurturing children and family is a Bodhisattva's work, and enough if that is truly all you have time for). But if you can get out, and have the time, work in the community is a wonderful road.

Both donations and Samu work should be a bit beyond the point where it starts to hurt. In fact, it is even good to choose a volunteer activity that you resist ... hands on work with the sick, the abused or suffering.
This is not only true at times when there are particularly sad stories in the news like now.

Gassho, and I mean it, Jundo

    Hi,
Well done Chris on this initiative for charity. I think it deserves the full support of the Treeleaf Sangha. I hope that Sangha members appreciate all the hard, voluntary work you’ve done on this project and row in with support ... especially by ordering T-Shirts.

    I’ll take two!

Thanks Myozan for the kind comments, but this has been a joint effort with many hands involved including your own.

All of the measurements are in the 'Imperial' system .

    Chris,
What is the time period in which we will be accepting orders? Is there a fixed period so we submit one volume order, or will orders be accepted on a rolling basis? I am receiving funds from folks who are ordering t-shirts and I think it would be fair to let everyone know what the order window / delivery time frame is ...

Thanks Yugen for bringing that up. Let's try to wrap up the orders by next Friday (16th). That should hopefully give everyone enough time to get their orders in.

As far as delivery time, I'm expecting the shirts will take about ten days for printing, perhaps less. As soon as I have them in hand, I will try to do a mass mailing within a couple days to get them out the door. Hopefully no more than 15-20 days after closing our ordering.

Thank you all that have ordered. $5 bucks from every shirt you order will go to a charity that's doing great things on our planet.

    Hi all,
Should we extend the deadline by a week to make sure those that don't look in often pick up on this? Or should we do an email shot in case anyone has missed this? What do you reckon?

Chris, I'm pretty sure you wouldn't even have to sign up for a PayPal account just for this transaction, using the Sending money to a friend option below the payment box on that page. And since you're not really going into the tshirt business, and it's not under the zendo's name as an "entity," this transaction would qualify as a money transfer between friends, rather than a "Payment."

Thanks for the tip Lisa. That's great to know for folks without a need for Paypal.

We've currently sold 21 shirts with a goal of selling 50. Sincerest thanks to all of those who have ordered or are ordering shirts. We've even had a couple of folks add a few extra bucks with their purchase for the charitable contribution fund.

I don't have a problem extending the sale of the shirts an extra week, but it does put us deeper into the holiday shipping season which as you know can be sketchy.

    Deep-bows everyone.

Chris, are there any chest measurements? I'm assuming that these are men's shirts, so it might be easier for us to get the correct size with that info.

    Thanks and gassho,

I would ask our members to hold, as much as possible, all Forum discussion and chit-chat during our Rohatsu Retreat the next two days, except as related to the Retreat.
