    Right HERE!

    I'd just finished my yoga routine yesterday afternoon, and I remembered I hadn't done my daily metta prayer yet. So I thought, oh well I still have time and just sat there on the yoga mat silently going through the prayer. And somewhere in the process of offering metta to my mother who's miles away in another city, it occurred to me that she was just RIGHT HERE with me. And not only that, everyone and everything, the whole universe was just RIGHT HERE, not metaphorically but literally, RIGHT HERE!

    I'm not talking about having a vision or hallucination of my mother sitting on the yoga mat with me or anything trippy like that. It's more like a quiet realization but beyond intellectual realization. Just for one moment the notions of "here" and "there" and "near" and "far" were dropped and there was just this intimacy, this RIGHT HERE-NESS.

    And of course Treeleaf is a good expression of this RIGHT HERE. All over the world we sit together - dropping here and there and now and later and live and recorded - just RIGHT HERE. But there's knowing this and there's knowing this.

    If you bring me an inch of delusion, i ll kick this butt of yours.
    Same if you turn up with an inch of realization, butt kicked for sure!

    The true conduct is beyond inches and presentation.
    Find the true person behind these games
    And bring the bastard
    And we ll sit and laugh together

    I second Willow Thank you Taigu, and thank you Rafael. I know the feeling you described, which gives Taigu the right to kick my butt!! Just kinda the quiet peaceful relaxation of the mind because something was right and suddenly seemed to make sense. Okay, I'm throwing it away *hides*

    In a spring outside time, flowers bloom on a withered tree;
    you ride a jade elephant backwards, chasing the winged dragon-deer;
    now as you hide far beyond innumerable peaks--
    the white moon, a cool breeze, the dawn of a fortunate day

    I have had that feeling a few times. It's beautiful, and then I must let it pass through.

    I present my ass for a kicking.

    Rafael,

    You've had this experience loudly. You may at some point have it quietly too, but if you think 'right here', you've already travelled a million miles away and put a real chasm between self and other.

    Taigu punches everyone but his hand is never closed into a fist. True compassion! He should punch me for being so sanctimonious.

    Back to the bench!

    Chet,

    I had this sense as I was typing the original post that neither what I was typing nor what I was remembering was that... you know...That. Still, I felt I had to say something - if only to have a teacher wield the virtual equivalent of a kyosaku to whack/punch/kick/tap this

    I wish I'd have had someone to smack me after my first real 'Holy Shit' kensho moment. It would have saved me YEARS of attachment. Then again, maybe those years of hung-up-ness have prevented my backsliding. Maybe not. Dunno.

    Chet,

    I have a feeling that you are exactly where you are supposed to be.

    Your skinbag is very precious, Rafael.

    Nothing wrong with being a skinbag

    Attachment to our thoughts and beliefs is the problem.

    You had to say something...act something then. Do something.

    Saying is, as Chet puts it, too late, too far. And then self and others are just two.

    No need for a kyosaku, don't you see real life with a massive one?

    Everyday I give and receive this kyosaku, without a single inch of wood.

    Yesterday I had to wait for a couple of hours at the dentist office.

    I didn't even have to pick up a magazine.

    All I did was to be there.

    It was perfect.

    Afterwards, life went on as usual.
