Fill in the blanks ...
Fill in the blanks ...
Ask him the way.
...check his teeth. You might have rushed brushing them in the morning.
Hans Chudo Mongen
Show him the way,
Ask for directions
... move on
If? Is Buddha not always on the road?
Walk together until you go your own way.
When is the Buddha not met? Buddha meets Buddha as Buddha in Buddha shoes Buddhas on down a road that's also Buddha.
Yet, I would ask him directions for the fastest and best route to Buddha.
(this is a fun game) [morehappy]
Tip your hat and smile in recognition,
Then let go as you pass him by
Riding the ox backwards
Into the unknown
Teach him how to 'high five'!
Ask him why the chicken crossed the road.
embrace him as an old friend.
. . . I probably wouldn't even recognize him.
He thinks, "Wow, that guy looks just like the Buddha!" Oops! He forgot where he is going.
... watch where you're stepping or you'll slip on the ice.
...just mean that you have been blind before, utterly blind, now it stands in front of you, don t get another kind of blindness. Whatever, but please don t be attached and look behind you as you part. You simply cannot part. And nobody needs to make a big deal out of it. So, whatever...
wasn't this a koan and the answer was 'kill him'
meaning don't make buddha or anything out of self and other.
what is meeting?
Of course every single answer you have given so far to this koan is right. Whatever. And you don t even need to recognize it, it-she-he cannot be recognized, just lived.
Yes Rich, and killing precisely means the self getting to meet the self within the self, concepts, ideas, expectations, the whole garbage and load dropped. So smiling, running, showing him the way do apply. There is not a single answer to this. It would be still carving an idea as to how to proceed.
That was my thought, too, Rich: What is there to do? Paraphrasing a Heinlein character, "Thou art Buddha!"
Or how about this: You merge into each other as you go your separate ways.
Now, can we please stop the analyzing and get on with filling in the blanks! :D
...excuse me, just one thing.....
... Oh, or on the information super highway ...
Where ever, let him/her go.
... ask him if he knows the way is now online.
Keep on fanning
All the really clever responses have been taken... even the no response.. :(
