    The Tenth Gate

    Mindfulness of Sangha is a gate of Dharma illumination;
    for [with it] attainment of the truth is steadfast.


    Mindfulness :
    attentive, aware, careful or heedful; awareness of the present moment

    May we, together with all buddhas
    Realize the skill of mindfulness;
    That with our brothers and sisters,
    We can harmoniously reach the truth.

    May this offering bring peace to all beings

    The Ninth Gate

    Mindfulness of Dharma is a gate of Dharma illumination;
    for [with it] reflection of [the state of] Dharma is pure.

    May we, together with all buddhas
    Realize the skill of mindfulness;
    That our reflection on the Dharma may be
    Complete, sincere and without defilement.

    The Seventh Gate

    Pure conduct of the actions of the mind is a gate of Dharma illumination; for it eliminates the three poisons.*

    *greed, anger, and ignorance

    Conduct:
    the manner in which a person behaves, esp. on a particular occasion or in a particular context.

    May we, together with all buddhas
    Realize the skill of comtrolling actions;
    That the three poisons may be eliminated.

    The Sixth Gate

    Pure conduct of the actions of the mouth is a gate of Dharma illumination; for it eliminates the four evils.*

    *1) lying, 2) suppression of speech, 3) abusive speech, 4) duplicitous speech

    Conduct:
    the manner in which a person behaves, esp. on a particular occasion or in a particular context.


    May we, together with all buddhas
    Realize the skill of controlling actions;
    That the four evils may be ...
